30 million Xbox gamers still haven't upgraded yet, 10 million more of that crowd purchasing a Series console isn't farfetched (only a 3rd). Looking at the Playstation numbers tells me they are not migrating that direction. I'm still under the belief that games move hardware and not everyone is willing to adopt PC yet. |
Given the way worse generation we are now in in terms of software compare to the previous ones, I really wonder how PS5 is almost on PS4 level sales. So I won't be surprised if it is thanks to Xbox gamers migrating to PS. So we can't know that for sure. |
I'd usually be able to say my friends and I are part of those sales, but this gen is the first time that none of us have bought in yet. Usually we would've moved on by now, but due to the pricing as well as lack of new enticing PS5 only games, we've remained on PS4. Based on PS5 Slim and Pro pricing, as well as lack of near future games, it's looking like we'll all probably be waiting yet another year. It's not because we can't afford it either.
Most of the reason PS5 is neck and neck with PS4 is because of new customers and migrating (XB) gamers. When PS5 finally gets an official price cut, or steadily launches some worthy PS5 only blockbusters, sales are going to surge again because that's when PS4 owners will start to move on, en masse.
PS1 - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.
PS2 - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.
PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
