Xbox did not have a stellar opening this generation. Â It doesn't appear that it has any intention of ending it that way. .

It was a excellent opening actually. Thanks to lack of PS5 stock Xbox Series S sold a lot. People even thought this was going to be a more competitive generation

Sony reported 30% of PS5 owners are new to Playstation. I think they a fair share must be Xbox crowd: https://www.gamesradar.com/almost-a-third-of-ps5-owners-skipped-the-ps4-generation-sony-says/

Xbox userbase is migrating to PC, it's a very straightforward step. For PS4 owners it's not so easy because you lose access to your PS4 backlog going for PC

Sony is also losing a lot of players to PC this generation, but Xbox players are likely making up for the users they are losing

This generation will see a drop in console sales. PS5 will decrease 10-15 million compared to PS4 (even with a longer generation), Xbox will decline ~10 million too I think
