Switch is a better core system than the ps5 at this point in time. Switch games I can't play on PC include Tears, Breath, Odyssey, Skyward, wonder, engage, three houses, Awakening Remake, LM3, pikmin 4, etc, etc.
For the ps5 list all those great games I can't play on PC.... spider 2..... that is about it.
Nintendo is the only hardware that has actual exclusives.

You can play them especially with that beast of a PC you have lol. I get it, but I think the op is talking about a gamer who only owns one console or pc.

I don't think most core gamers own one console. I have a number of friends who are into gaming and multiple consoles are normal. The best combo by far is PC + switch.

Core games are core games it doesn't matter how popular they are. All those games you listed are core games we grew up playing that are a evolution and resonate with core gamers. |
The definition of "core games" seems to be whatever you need it to mean at the moment.

I think If a gamer has 2 consoles or pc and console it defeats the purpose of this discussion.

That's the only line in your post that matters. Doesn't matter how possible that tech demo was for actual gameplay. It was the fact that it planted an expectation in the minds of gamers, and it built mountains of hype. Then the next time we saw footage of Zelda, it was absolutely nothing like what anyone expected. All this against the backdrop of Nintendo's perception in the game industry, while trying to convince the public to support its struggling console.
I don't see how you missed that.

The only thing I would qualify as a casual game is a game that requires no skill. COD, and gran turismo require a ton of hours to get good.

In that case, the Switch has tons of "core" games. Like I said before, every console has no shortage of core games for someone to enjoy, and these days anyone who doesn't limit themselves to a single genre and/or has a life outside of playing games nonstop can get by on a single console.

The majority of core gamers aren't limiting themselves to your narrow view. The majority of core gamers could not care less whether a game is indie or AAA.
CoD and GTA are the very definition of casual. Most of the people I know who own a couple of games always have CoD and GTA in their stack.
