I think the Virtuous statement is largely right.

I mean ultimately the fact that you're getting anywhere near XBox Series S GPU performance in a portable this thin is above expectations.
The fact that it's on 8nm is absolutely bonkers, Nvidia and Nintendo did a great job getting good performance considering that. The graphics output at only 10 watts is outstanding. Puts a lot of those PC handhelds that need 15-20 watts to shame.
This is definitely a new hardware era for Nintendo, we are definitely out of the DS-Wii-Wii U-3DS era for sure.
Still think we will get a Pro model revision this cycle too, maybe one that allows the CPU cores to clock higher as there's a lot of performance there I think left untapped.

Agreed! I'm surprised with the performance so far, even though the battery life leaves a lot to be desired. I was one of the people who would be happy with Steam Deck level, but it seems better so far (as I bought Cyberpunk, doubledipping a game I never felt I would, just because I wanted to check the capabilities of the console, ones that I probably wouldn't be feelling as impressed if I had only got MKW).

DS, 3DS and even Game Boy if you count Game Boy Color as a Pro version all had "Pro" versions.
Switch seems to have avoided one because of the Supply Chain Crisis during the global pandemic. Additionally, Nintendo probably already knew around 2021-2022 that the Switch's successor would be a generational leap but not reinvent the wheel in terms of function, so a Pro probably seemed redundant.
I think the only likely reason a Switch 2 Pro won't happen at all (and it would happen around 2029-2030 if it does) is if the global economic conditions right now like tariff concerns get worse over the next few years. Because if they do, Nintendo could price a Switch 2 Pro at something insane like $700-$900.

In this video: Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - side by side comaprison on Nintendo Switch 2 and Asus ROG Ally X.
"In handheld mode, Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 runs mainly at the target resolution of 1080p with DLSS and 30 FPS with small drops in some locations, for the quality mode.
For Asus ROG Ally X, there is a high-quality graphics preset close in quality to the version on Nintendo Switch, without ray tracing. With a power mode of 25W, the indicators are 1080p, and 30-40 FPS. The launch is performed on Windows 11."

Considering the ROG Ally X is an $800 enthusiast device, it's impressive how close the Switch 2 gets to keeping pace here.

And has a larger screen to boot. Noice.

We now have millions of S2 on the wild and many video showcases/comparisons yet we are still seeing posters trying to paint S2 as a hideous product.
Like, bro... we have our own eyes to do the judgment...
Dont push it, you are making yourself look even more ridiculous

The ROG Ally X shares the fate of all portable PCs now. Power hungry X86 CPUs that can't compete in performance per Watt with ARM CPUs and AMD has delayed their AI enabled FSR4 on mobile GPUs. These PC devices have to grind performance with 25W TDP, bigger coolers and expensive batteries. These are stone age devices by now until AMD delivers the next gen.
Bonus: look at that ghosting on the arm movement. Top is ROG (TAA), bottom is Switch2 (DLSS).

Twice the price for double the ghosting.
Another banger from Xbox.
