DS, 3DS and even Game Boy if you count Game Boy Color as a Pro version all had "Pro" versions.
Switch seems to have avoided one because of the Supply Chain Crisis during the global pandemic. Additionally, Nintendo probably already knew around 2021-2022 that the Switch's successor would be a generational leap but not reinvent the wheel in terms of function, so a Pro probably seemed redundant.
I think the only likely reason a Switch 2 Pro won't happen at all (and it would happen around 2029-2030 if it does) is if the global economic conditions right now like tariff concerns get worse over the next few years. Because if they do, Nintendo could price a Switch 2 Pro at something insane like $700-$900.
