Not even close Resident Evil 4 for me, what a game! God of War and Psychonaughts were both excellent games as well. Never played Fire Emblem, but wished I had, I bet its pretty solid.

1. Shadow of the Colossus (GOAT material)
2. Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection (phenomenal gameplay)
3. Resident Evil 4 (a poor Resident Evil experience, but a great and innovative game)
4. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath (probably my favorite Xbox game)
5. DMC3 (a return to form after the crushing disappointment that was DMC2. Not as good as Kamiya's original masterpiece though)
Game I like the most from that year is Fable: Lost Chapters - but that is just enhanced version of the original Fable from the year before, so can't even consider it.
I remember F.E.A.R, horror FPS - it had really good enemy AI, and with ability to trigger slow motion it felt quite different to other FPS games of that period.
Of course, Psychonauts, RE4, Shadow of Colossus, Battlefield 2 (probably most time spent in that one that year), some great adventure games like Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy and Still Life. And then LEGO: Star Wars. I didn't play that one until quite a few years later, but that is the one that started it all, and they were always fun to play, single or coop.
But, no matter what I think personally of playing guitar on a plastic controller, yeah, I just have to give it to Other - Guitar Hero.
RE4 is such an amazing game, I can see it winning, yeah.
But gotta vote for Shadow of the Colossus, still into my all time top 5.

I've been meaning to play Shadow of Colossus for the last 18 years, but haven't gotten around to it. I believe I have it through playstation +, maybe I'll finally play it one of these days.
This is such a close call between Tales of the Abyss and Resident Evil 4, but since my vote for the former probably wouldn't make a difference I'm going RE4 to stave off Shadow of the Colossus. My top 5 for the year:

Shadow of the Colossus, by a fair margin too. One of my top five games of all time, the next closest games from this year would be Kingdom Hearts II, Soul Calibur III, and Sly 3, at least unless I'm forgetting something.

I won't fault anyone who wants to vote for Guitar Hero this year. It definitely deserves any votes it gets. However, I don't think a lot of people have actually played this first Guitar Hero game. I plan to put either II or III into one of the polls.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
My Bet With curl-6
