what a strange week, extremely sharp drop for all consoles. especially for ps5. my prediction of 5 million lifetime units for this year may not come true

It's the first time since Week 1 that PS5 has been down year over year. It's a pretty terrible week for everything apart from the ageing PS4.

I expected Switch around 80k and PS5 above 30k. This is strange, maybe stock issues? Or do all people wait until the release of Spider-Man and Mario Wonder?

Next week I expect Switch above 100k again and PS5 above 50k. Though, I don't know how big of a deal Spider-Man is in Japan...

Oof. Switch 2023 beating 2019 might actually get pretty tight! 2022 did less than 1.3m from now through the rest of the year, despite Scarlet/Violet. With the same numbers 2023 won't even pass 2019 totals. Fingers crossed SMBW (and effects from the movie+TotK etc) will do the trick.

I mean of course beating 2019 is going to be tight, it has never not looked like its going to be tight. At absolute best it'll just barely pass 2019, so yeah it can easily fall a bit short. I'd say 4.4X million is most likely and 2019 was 4.49+ million.

Strangely low weeks for both system. Maybe people for some reason waiting to buy when the big games come out this week. Or maybe just low stock for both as they plan to have a lot of stock available for the big launches this week.

Hope to see Switch >100k next week.
