The Switch is slowing down hardware-wise, but it still dominates the software numbers. Really, after TotK released, I'm struggling to imagine another big hitter that could reignite the sales of the Switch, especially when it's near 130m already. I would still be interested in a Switch TV, though...

Mario Wonder?

While it's going to sell a ton of copies, how much more hardware can it possibly move? The console is near 130m units, pretty much everyone who wants a Switch has it by now.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Couldn’t you have said the exact same thing before TotK? Switch was over 125m with BotW at 30m, you could easily make the argument that everybody who wanted a Switch or every Zelda fan already had the system.

This is the first original 2D Mario in over a decade, is a noticeable departure from the “New” series that has been around since 2006 and is the first Mario game to release after the Mario Movie which did $1.3 billion at the box office. It’s going to move a bunch of hardware this holiday.

Yes, you could, and yes, a lot of people did just that.

However, this doesn't mean that they all remember something that dates back months already.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Yep, how could people possibly remember arguments that have been made Switch’s entire life?

I remember when 2017 was supposed to be it’s peak year because all the Nintendo fans got one for Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon & 3D Mario.

Rough couple of weeks for Switch hardware. PS5 doing well, but note this is because of the start of a new sale (which ends 7th Sept).

Blasphemous 2 did well for a game the vast majority of people will buy digitally; Spain seems to have a soft spot for indie physical releases on Switch.

ACVI didn't do well for FromSoft game... but it did OK for a mech game.

YoY changes for the week:
PS5 +197%
NS -60.5%
XS -64.1%

You certainly wouldn't expect an Indie to surpass the release of such a hyped game like FromSoft has knowadays with their notoriety but hey the first Blasphemous was popular and physical Indies do well on Switch surprisingly.

And the next year, we had the argument that after Pokémon, nothing of big value would come out to drive up the sales again.

There's always something coming to entice at least a new portion and old portion to get on the ride be it a new system for replacement or gifts for young children who haven't gotten one yet.

Switch must be the Grand Canyon to have so many cliffs
