Couldn’t you have said the exact same thing before TotK? Switch was over 125m with BotW at 30m, you could easily make the argument that everybody who wanted a Switch or every Zelda fan already had the system.

This is the first original 2D Mario in over a decade, is a noticeable departure from the “New” series that has been around since 2006 and is the first Mario game to release after the Mario Movie which did $1.3 billion at the box office. It’s going to move a bunch of hardware this holiday.

Yes, you could, and yes, a lot of people did just that.

However, this doesn't mean that they all remember something that dates back months already.
