Didn't care for any of the games except 2d mario but that looked underwhelming. Really wanted hand drawn mario on a more focused single player plaformer but oh well everyone seems to love it.

I don't get the hype for remakes unless they are like residential evil 2 or 4 remakes where the gameplay is revamped  don't really care for dated games like mgs and or mario where you can replay them anywhere

But you couldn't play it on Switch.

Different strokes though. I don't believe gameplay becomes outdated the same way that graphics do. Super Mario RPG was made for a console over 3 decades old. Massive room for improvement, visually.

I disagree. certain games can feel really dated for me. I tried going back to some or my favorite games of all time  Like mgs and resident evil 4 and the gameplay just feels so dated that they are just boring. Certain games like platformers hold up really well though. Imo if they gonna make remakes they really need to follow the resident evil 4 remakes style if the game is really old.

My thoughts on the Direct can be summed up as it being too shallow. There were too many mini-trailers, and little substance spread out over 30-40 minutes.
I enjoyed seeing a bit of the new art for Mario RPG, Star Ocean 2 was nice, but was disappointed when they said they weren’t going to go into detail on New Super Mario Bros 3–the elephant suit seemed like giant Mario 2.0. But, other than that, the Direct added nothing else I found interesting that wasn’t already covered on the 2-3 minute IGN summary I read before I watched the Direct.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Better than the previous five or six directs. It had a game I'm interested in and one positive surprise.
But i most say that I'm starting to get tired of all remakes and re-releases. It is great to be able to play old favorites on new systems, I just feel they lack the punch I want from announcement reels compared to new original games.

8/10. I'm just disappointed that there were no Donkey Kong, Metroid or F-Zero announcements.

Just looking at the trailers on Nintendo of America's Youtube channel.  Mario Wonder has the most views so far with 3.3M.  However second place is Super Mario RPG with 1.7M views.  I am kind of surprised how popular this game seems to be so far.  I always thought of it more as a cult classic from the SNES era.

It could be that it has acquired a whole lot of fans over the decades.  Sales of Super Mario RPG might totally dwarf what it did back on the SNES.

I feel like 2D Donkey Kong could be a launch title for the next console, together with Mario Kart.

F-Zero will make a return when there's a big change in controlling or viewing games. F-Zero VR would be insane.

Good points, but another thing a new F-Zero would need to stand out more is have the drivers interact a little more, depending on how well they know each other in the setting and how they feel about each other. EX: Captain Falcon passing Jody Summer would make her say "Not bad." and Falcon playfully say "Show me your moves!", whereas Falcon passing Zoda would have Zoda saying "Why you!!" and Falcon saying "Don't mess with me!".
