Forums - Sony - PlayStation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

I'm around 7 hours in Wolverine and this feels like an 8 so far.

It's everything I expected from a Wolverine game. Nothing ground breaking, but the brutality, finishing moves, and environmental destruction absolutely pop. It feels great moving around, the sliding feels slick, and the jumping is satisfying. The handholding is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting based on reviews and impressions, but its definitely a little more noticeable compared to other games. Insomniac should take some ques from Sucker Punch and how they use the touch pad for wayfinding.

Wolverine physical sales are a bit less than Yotei in the UK. I think it will be a successful in the end but an underperformance. Let's see how legs pan out.

Honestly I'm kind of glad its not setting the world on Fire. I do think Insomniac could afford to attemp a few more innovations in their gameplay systems, even if that means they don't release quiet as often. There's a lot of interesting application of Wolverines powers that could inform verticality, exploration and unique combat mechanics.

I think it's ok for Insomniac to keep their release cadence even if their systems don't innovate.

But some of the issues that have been highlighted should've been picked up on before release. I'm sure they'll incorporate some additional feedback loop into their upcoming titles.

Leave the bigger innovations to other teams who are releasing games slower.

That said, I do actually want to see bigger changes to Ratchet... That game should have more space exploration in it by now, even if it just copies KH gummy ship gameplay.

Massive W for Bungie today FINALLY!!!! Bringing back ALL vaulted content into Destiny 2 was by far the best thing Bungie could've done! I have no doubt it was a quicker solution than starting on a brand new project, but this does point to the possibility of Destiny 3 eventually being a reality, as they further confirmed that they are NOT done with the Destiny franchise, and that unvaulting all D2 content is the first step to laying the foundation for new stories and GAMES.

Marathon will be grown beyond being an extraction shooter, which is no doubt a smart decision, as it was hard to see the game lasting beyond just a year in its current player state.

Not sure how they'll be able to properly maintain both Marathon as well as a possible Destiny 3 as Bungie has been insanely gutted over the last couple of years, but I'm just glad that Bungie is doing good by the community. Massive step to restoring player trust as the vaulted content was always something hanging over their heads no matter what they did.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Did they say “all” vaulted content coz I read vaulted content will be brought back for “all” players not all content will be brought back.

Hmm, fair point. They specifically said campaigns, destinations, and raids would be unvaulted, which were the major content aspects that were vaulted, but didn't explicitly say "all" campaigns, destinations, and raids.

Weapons were part of the vaulted content, so I'm guessing they only said those 3 items rather than "all" because weapons would remain vaulted.

At least that's what I'm hoping lol. Would be weird as hell to only add half of the campaigns/raids/destinations lol that would massively sour the announcement

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Outside of campaigns, the Wrath of the Machine raid is the only major D1 content that is absent in D2. Oh man, if Bungie down the road announces that Wrath will be added!!!!

Rumors continue for a late 2027 launch for the PS6. I guess we'll see soon enough if the PS5 reveal timeline is anything to go by.

I'm still in the camp that believes Holiday 2028 is the earliest Sony should launch regardless of component prices. It matches up with Sony ending disc production in Jan 2028, meaning all digital PS6 from the start, rather than printing physical games for the PS6 for a couple of months before stopping completely. It helps their first party studios re-align with the generation development lifecycle after COVID disrupted them for a year and a half. And it helps build enthusiasm for the general audience that will somewhat combat the sticker shock that many are expecting these machines to launch at.

I could see Microsoft wanting to launch next year after how poorly this generation has went for them, but that is essentially a non factor for Sony at this point.

I don't think there is anything Sony or Microsoft can do with the new system that will make me pick it up at launch.  The faster load times of the PS5 and Series made it worth getting one at or near launch.  We know the Helix is going to be more PC than console, not sure what the PS6 will do to innovate.  Either straight console, or more of a Switch type console.

I finally picked up Onimusha! Next week: Ace Combat 8!
