I watched Skill Ups video and the level of handholding is embarrassing. I sometimes get lost in games too but I don’t need a waypoint to the big glowing blue pissline constantly showing the way in a strictly linear game. It treats the player like they’re fucking stupid. Sonys workhorse stumbling really highlights the cracks in an abysmal generation for PS starting to show.

Skill Ups was clearly playing with a bunch of navigation accessibility options on. The ones they specifically spend most of the review on were mentioned by Insomniac a few months ago, and these didn't exist in the previews or preview footage. This should've been obvious when Skill Ups mentions the non-failure state of the QTE, another prime accessibility option.

He addressed these concerns in a follow up video where he shows there’s no accessibility option to turn these off. Including the QTEs completing themselves. He addresses it at the start of the newest this week in video games video.

Yeah the only accessibility option toggle was regarding autocompleting QTE’s which ended up being OFF the entire time. When turned ON, it only skips the slowdown mechanic.

There’s currently no way to fail a QTE, along with the multiple navigation systems. You can’t turn those off at all. Also the insanely large sonar-like blue indicator to show where a hidden item is supposed to be lol

I can’t help but get the feeling the game was designed for the TikTok generation.

Apparently, the biggest crossover games for people that played Spider-man 2 were Roblox, and Fortnite.

Which does make it an interesting choice to go with Wolverine and an R-rated game. It makes sense they’d dumb down some stuff though. Maybe trying to hedge for both sides here ended up in an unfocused product.

I wasn't planning on getting Wolverine at launch, and the reviews one way or another won't change that. I'm still interested in it. A 78 Metascore is not bad in the slightest. But for a $70 game, I know people expect a higher average.

Well this month crossed 100 PS2 games. No. I don't organize. Just a chaotic mind. No goal in mind other than just keep looking for games for any console I own I want to play.

Nowadays, all you're expected to see for the side cover is console logo and game title in white Helvetica font against a black background.

It's the little things they took from us, man.

Thanks for the update. I didn't know this.

That said, the sentiment doesn't appear to be the same with other reviewers, with Skill Up making it seem like the game is 100% always giving you navigation ques when the game isn't.

Regardless, Insomniac should patch in some more options etc.

The accessibility line just adds a green line:

The Autocomplete accessibility setting apparently just doesn't prompt the QTEs in the first place. But the game doesn't let you fail them even when it's off.

Im enjoying Wolverine so far. Just an hour or so in, but its fun.

Seems like Wolverine is doing well initially with gamers. That's good news, and hopefully it has sustained legs. But it does sound like Insomniac might want to make some changes via patches to improve overall perceptions a bit more.

The rumours about Media Molecule is exciting. I hope they use the Dreams engine as backbone (and creation mode if the game supports it) and are able to release it for PS5.
