Forums - Sony - PlayStation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

When do you guys think Intergalatic is coming? I’m thinking this’ll either be releasing next year or it’ll be a launch title for PS6… the latter I’m slightly doubtful of given how Sony handled the PS4/PS5 early gen first-party software, but you never know.

If the mandatory overtime is true then it means they're targeting Q2 2027.

I'm imagining PS6 having a launch line up of:

Astrobot 2  (all games cross gen/promoted alongside handheld)

GT8 (began development in 2023)

/or Sony Santamonica game.

next year as soon as it's ready. With the current strategy, it'll make no difference whether it releases before PS6 or alongside it since it's still a PS5 game. And with prices the way they are, Sony is going to be relying on PS5 to drive revenue for the short-to-medium term.

Though this and Barlog's game in the same year will be crazy...

Astro Bot is a very possible PS6 launch game candidate.

There is no way Sony holds GT8 to a launch windown, it'll release when it does, GT6 released 1 month after the PS4, as a PS3 exclusive, PD does what it wants.

I also doubt a Santa Monica game will be held for a launch windown and not release exactly when it should, Sony wouldn't hold their second biggest studio over a system launch, they never did, and likely never will. GoW Ascension and TLoU also released as PS3 exclusives in the year the PS4 released.

Naughty Dog, Santa Monica and Polyphony Digital are studios I think will never have launch games, that's not how they roll, and Sony mostly doesn't care about holding massive games for the launch.

After Guerilla Games became one of their highest budgeted studios with Horizon, I also find it hard to believe they would have a launch game, even as when they did once, with Killzone Shadowfall for the PS4.

Team Asobi and Insomniac having games for the launch are way likely. I think Bend, Media Molecule and Sucker Punch are possible candidates, and as I expect the PS6 to release November 2028, Sucker Punch would have time for a game to be there, if they were already working on it by the end of Ghost of Yotei cycle.

HOLY GOAT Housemarque knocked it out of the park with Saros!!! A couple of runs, but that gameplay loop is picture perfect! Not to mention, graphically is drop dead gorgeous. I appreciate how much light there is than in Returnal lol.

This is when I loved Sony’s games the most. Putting gameplay front and center.

Getting even more excited for Marvel Tokon as well. The character roster is really starting to take shape. Can’t wait to see who else they have to show off!

Next will be the villains for Dr. Doom team.

Seems like Carnage will be the next character shown based on the easter egg from this last announcement.

Astro Bot launching with PS6 would be a very tempting buy... but I've learned my lesson with PS5. I purchased that system at launch and didn't start using it until 2024. I'm holding off this time— I already have enough games to play as is. Plus I still have my PS4 and its library to run through.

Sony, just bring back Wild Arms. RPGs are doing really well right now. Most don't cost $400 million or whatever like those sharts. Just do it. If you have any balls.

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw Wild Arms 4 on PS4/5 as a classic.

I still don't buy the obligatory overtime comments, actually I don't buy anything the ex director of the service has to say LOL. Not like I don't think there isn't overtime, there is, they had it last december but if was actually a problem I choose to believe people would be suing sony.

BTW a new ND employee posted on linkedin a couple weeks ago that he was exited to help Intergalactic cross the finish line and his contract is of one year so that game is almost ready (talking big picture).

What intrigues me the most about 2027 is if they really get to release Cory's game and Intergalactic in the same year and if they are going to release Horizon Hunters, 4loop and Fairgames in that very same year. Two (posible) mega hits and the forced end of the service push (because of cumulative failure) in the same year, would be quite interesting to watch.
