A ND employee posted a photo of a cannon on a fort with the title "research".

Maybe a new Uncharted has entered pre production at ND? Certainly has Uncharted vibes.

Creative director of Lost Legacy and the director for the TLou1 remake. If this is for a new Uncharted, it'll be in good hands.

and the other codirector of TLOUP1 (Matthew Gallant) is now a codirector for Intergalactic.

I love when "the game no one asked for" actually had implications beyond quick cash lol.

007 First Ligjht Dualsense looks really good.

Officially, Marathon had a budget of at least $200 million, but it could be as high as $250 million. Even if the game has sold 3 million copies, that's not even half of the game's budget after store fee splits, and last we heard, the game was somewhere at less than 2 million copies sold.

This is purely for development costs. This doesn't include ongoing live service development and maintenance costs.

No idea what Bungie can do here to turn things around. At least in the immediate future. Looks like on the bright side, Bungie isn't so much panicking as they are having their heads down working on making the game better, and currently, no fears of an imminent shutdown.

There's a video of about 3.5 hrs by Anthem's producer basically telling the story of Anthems development year by year and one of the most interesting things he says is that big publishers know services will potentially sell less than single players but they want then anyway because in the long run they can make more money (with microtransactions obviously) so I don't think Sony was expecting to make the budget of Marathon back in its first quarter actually I don't think they were expecting to make the budget back from Helldivers 2 either, when the game sold 1 million the ex AH CEO said the game surpassed Sony expectation, those were around 40 million in revenue for an around 100 million game. Obviously very different circumstances but I don't think the budget will be a problem as of right now, the make or break is how much money people are putting inside the game, number that most likely we will never know.

And It's not like I think everything is perfect lol I expect Bungie layoffs at some of this year but I don't think they will close Marathon.

It looks like the PlayStation layoffs where of around 70 people. 20 from the closing of DO and 50 divided around PS but the only ex employees I have read were working directly in the PS offices and not in a particular studio.

By making the game more accessible. Marathon should've shipped with the ability to respawn back into a match as a Rook. from a gameplay perspective, this aligns with how Rooks work as you don't usually enter at the start of a match but rather mid-match.

The friction that comes from dying, then having to go through loading screens/ menu just to get back into a match was clearly too much for a lot of more casual players. A respawn function offsets this greatly, as a Souls-like gameplay loop, and potentially keeps human numbers in matches for longer.

Marathon is at a point where even the hardcore are leaving, and it's only 1 month old.
There is nothing already in Marathon that will change it now.

I don't think even becoming free to play would change it. Even the people that like it a lot how it is are also dropping it.

Either it adds a good story mode (should take over 1 year to develop one tho), a PvE or PvPvE mode or something external somehow really drives a new community into it, or it's already just in the phase of struggling until it dies.

Marathon as it is has already failed, IMO.

I don't think it'll last much longer than six months if there is no plans to evolve or change it to something else.

Marathon will sell a lot over time, that's the big upside of these premium ongoing games. For example Sea of Thieves sold 1m copies on steam in one month at launch. It's now estimated to have sold around 12m on steam alone(never got higher than 66k concurrent users). If you keep selling in the top 100/200 then those copies all add up to a big number over time.

There's no quick buck to be made, just got to ride it out for the longterm.

I don't know how I feel about these rumors about Sony having two state of plays before mid year. The more the better obviously and technically that also happened last year with the dedicated SoP of 007 and then the Spring SoP lol but I'm not really that interested in a show dedicated only to third party specially because I think console exclusive games like the new Silent Hill won't be in that one.

Oh and Insomniac posted two openings for character artists (3d modeling) one for heads and one for bodies, both asking for expert knowledge of human anatomy, animal anatomy and creation of hair. Did someone say hair?

Both are 12 month contracts so maaaaaaybe they aren't that far from showing something what's next.
