Marathon is at a point where even the hardcore are leaving, and it's only 1 month old.
There is nothing already in Marathon that will change it now.
I don't think even becoming free to play would change it. Even the people that like it a lot how it is are also dropping it.
Either it adds a good story mode (should take over 1 year to develop one tho), a PvE or PvPvE mode or something external somehow really drives a new community into it, or it's already just in the phase of struggling until it dies.
Marathon as it is has already failed, IMO.
I don't think it'll last much longer than six months if there is no plans to evolve or change it to something else.
