Local news here did some fact checking on this, and they didn't find any strong evidence to support this claim, at least yet. They did find some, but it was mostly focused on Telegram. It's possible this is true, but I'd take it with a grain of salt for now (and probably in general, because the bots will probably adjust quite fast even if they took a hit now).

The image is low res, but it doesn't look real to me. Smoke doesn't billow like that. Feels fake. But I could be wrong, very low res image with a lot of macro blocking messing up details.

I don't know if the image is real, but I was talking about Russian bot activity. I don't have much reason to doubt the strikes against the Yandex data centers though, regardless of whether the image is real or not.

Around the Network

The attack does seem to be legit. Good. Fuck data centers, every one shut down is a win for humanity.

Yeah, I knew the picture was AI generated; it's a viral image in relation to the Ukraniian strikes, but the attacks are real. They hit three Yandex sites, and it is impacting the presence of Russian bots on social media. Zelenskyy is really trying to hit Russia hard in terms of their economy and ability to propagate  by attacking their energy and information infrastructure. That may end up hurting Russia more than anything else Ukraine could do, as it has apparently caught Russia completely off-guard. Russia is likewise attacking data centers in Kyiv.

Iran is now also threatening to take out US data centers and internet infrastructure

A top Iranian general has warned Trump of an unprecedented threat to destroy $2 trillion worth of US targets in and around the UAE, dramatically escalating tensions ahead of the critical US midterm elections. General Mohsen Rezaei hinted at specifically targeting undersea cables and American data centres if war breaks out. Meanwhile, in another major setback for Trump, Barack Obama has just endorsed the Democratic Senate nominee, Abdul El-Sayed, for next month's high-stakes midterm polls.

Popping the AI bubble next to the oil crisis. Modern warfare. Well not really, except nowadays the entire world gets dragged along in the economic fallout, just as Ukraine and Russia going after each other's refineries has skyrocketed Diesel prices. (next to the Houthis and Saudi Arabia)
