More like the great distraction while all sorts of policies get pushed through and others dissolved. We've gone from divide and rule to confuse everyone and rule. A constant bombardment of nonsense and contradictory statements to numb people. The term for that is "firehose of falsehood" to cause hyper-normalization and cognitive exhaustion. And it's working. It's not the moderation that dried up politics discussion here, moderation hasn't changed, there's too much bullshit to cut through nowadays to even have a discussion about anything in particular.

Plus I don't think there's much to argue anymore about how bad Trump's presidency is going, the failing Ukraine war, the failed Iran war, the ongoing genocide, the economic mess, climate change and rise of the far right in Europe. It seems everyone is just holding their collective breath until the mid terms in the vain hope the democrats will save the day...

Lol, GOP turning to desperation mode in fucking Texas, of all places. Who would’ve thunk it? It’s almost like they know they’re fucked and gonna get hit by a blue tsunami in the midterms.

Of course, Dumb Dumb will blame it on the elections being rigged again (there’s 0 chance he accepts the results of the midterms) instead of, I don’t know, the shit economy his egomaniacal brain refuses to acknowledge (the paltry September jobs report will almost certainly be revised down in the negatives, again) and the inflation on his watch he says doesn’t exist, quite the opposite.

But yeah, you don’t ask for help in fucking Texas as a Republican if your sitting president isn’t royally fucking the country over. You also don’t trail in the polls in fucking Texas by as much as 6 points as a GOP incumbent (Texas hasn’t elected a Dem in 30 years) unless your sitting president is doing an objectively terrible job. Again, if only somebody tried to warn them for months.

Well, Trump himself seems to believe that the economy is doing great and that it’s only being misreported on.

And I actually think he truly believes that, as I’m sure he’s only looking at the stock market, which DID go up pretty well so far. But as the stock market and what the common people earn are increasingly at odds, he simply can’t comprehend why anyone would consider the economy bad…

Spencer Pratt, the absolutely-no-value-to-society reality TV "star" who thought he was a viable candidate for mayor of L.A. after blowing his entire fortune on crystals and mutilating Heidi Montag on the surgeon's table, is now spreading rumors that Talarico had a mental breakdown. In reality, Talarico had the flu, which is often underestimated in its virulence.

And sadly, it seems to be working. Talarico's odds of winning on Kalshi are dropping from 65% to 61%.

And right after Trump ordered an ICE surge in California, an ICE agent from Texas was shot by a homeowner in Fresno, after allegedly assaulting the 72-year-old homeowner and his daughter. The homeowner found the agent drunk and passed out on his lawn. When the homeowner confronted the agent, he became belligerent and violent. The daughter's boyfriend, an off-duty Fresno PD officer, took the ICE agent into custody.

The federal government attempted to take custody of the agent, no doubt so they could get him out of California's jurisdiction. However, the state of California refused to transfer him to federal custody. He was in the hospital as of last night, in the custody of the Fresno PD.

US man shoots off-duty ICE agent who allegedly attacked him and daughter - The Guardian

A lot of MAGAs are up in arms on social media that a homeowner shot an ICE agent on his property and demanding the "whole story," which means that the ICE agent can do no wrong in their eyes and the homeowner can do no right.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This can't be real.  I mean 100% of the the people who have ever talked about it have refered to it as AI.  Are we all the enemy?  If so, the enemy of who exactly.  This is beyond stupid.

That's because he doesn't have AI. As in, Any Intelligence.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian attacks destroyed three Yandex data centers. Russian bot traffic on social media plummeted over the weekend.

Local news here did some fact checking on this, and they didn't find any strong evidence to support this claim, at least yet. They did find some, but it was mostly focused on Telegram. It's possible this is true, but I'd take it with a grain of salt for now (and probably in general, because the bots will probably adjust quite fast even if they took a hit now).

The image is low res, but it doesn't look real to me. Smoke doesn't billow like that. Feels fake. But I could be wrong, very low res image with a lot of macro blocking messing up details.
