Texas primaries:

- Dan Crenshaw got primaried; Chip Roy is headed to a tunoff against Mayes Middleton only beacause no candidate got 50%, but trailed Middleton considerably.
- Talarico defeats Crockett in Democratic Senate Primary, Crockett calls for Dems to unite behind Talarico
- Cornyn and Paxton head to a runoff in the Republican Senate primary, very close.

- John Carter (TX-31) cruises to easy GOP primary win ahead of the ShamWow! guy Vince Offer and conspiracy nutter Valentina Gomez Noriega. Gomez is following in the well-trodden footsteps of Trump and Kari Lake by screaming about massive voter fraud, despite the fact that she got steamrolled in the primary.

North Carolina:

- Roy Cooper wins the Democratic Senate primary, while former RNC chair Michael Whatley wins the GOP primary. Lara Trump had floated the idea of running but ultimately declined. NC is crucial for the Democrats to have any hope of picking up four seats needed for Senate control.

I wonder if Crockett will now try to run for president instead now that the senate position is out of reach.

Kristi Noem is out at DHS. She's being replaced by Oklahoma senator Markwayne Mullin, a dumb-as-fuck shithead with anger control issues. I've seen his company's plumbing trucks out and about on the highway in Oklahoma.

It's hard to imagine anybody doing a worse job as DHS secretary than Noem, but Mullin is up for that challenge in the way that the Switch was the first serious challenger to the PS2's all-time unite sales record.

The whole administration is corrupt beyond fixing. Getting rid of Noem is like squashing one roach.

Jobs numbers released today showed a loss of 92,000 jobs in February combined with downward revisions of 69,000 over between December and January. Unemployment ticked up slightly to 4.4%.

Nationwide gas prices also ticked up to $3.38 from a low of about $2.74 a couple weeks ago, which is the highest it has been since mid August 2024.
