I think the price will go lower, but to original 500$. The PS5 got increase to 550 or 600 in some regions, I guess they will go back to 500 with Slim. The Slim model always got the price cut in the past, but who knows with the current inflation level.

I might get PS5 Slim in the future, but right now the only game that makes me wanna buy one is FF16, so it depends whether it is gonna be good enough to buy a PS5 just for this single game.

As for previous PS consoles, I have PS2 Fat, but not the first iteration (SCPH-38XXX model). And PS4 Slim, one of the first it's revisions from 2017. So, going by this logic, I'll probably buy PS6 Fat next.

P.S. It's the easiest prediction one can make about Slim coming out in 2023, as it always was 3 years I think, at least for PS3 and PS4

b/c plays a good reasoning for me to get it.

I mean there's a couple of or so games I want on PS5 that have come out already (Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank, etc) but there's also ones that havent come out yet that I am interested in getting in the future (FFXVI, KH4).

Anyways, ya I forgot about the price increase in other regions.

So here's hoping we get the PS3 Slim next year and hopefully it'll be in stock too lol

I'm not so sure about this. The die hasn't really shrunk that much to run that much cooler has it? Unless they just remove the disc drive entirely with a new design and as much as I hate saying this will sell a $100 add on for discs. Meh. I'm sticking with my disc based PS5.

You really think they'll make an exclusively disc-less version of the slim despite the fact that its been two years since the original PS5 came out and I'm sure a ton of physical copies have been sold of a lot of games.

When I first saw the PS5 in a store I was in shock how bloody huge that thing is. It's almost as big as my MiniITX desktop pc, but that thing runs circles around the PS5. So a slim version is desperately needed imo.

Well there was another rumor that Sony was going to.

If it’s true, that’s when I’ll be getting my PS5. The two games I want that are exclusives will be Final Fantasy 16 and Granblue Fantasy Relink. I’m sure both will be out by then or almost.

Source on that? I dont remember ever seeing a rumor about that with any of the sources I visit/read up about.

Edit: I searched it up : https://www.thegamer.com/playstation-ps5-detachable-disc-drive/

Interesting, though I guess I wouldnt mind this. I mean more than 90% of my library on PS4 is digital lol - that and I'm steering towards going digital fully for PS5.

It was a few months ago.

This rumor was that it was going to be discless and can buy the add-on separately, but Sony will design it in a way that the add-on wont look unappealing and like an add-on.  My guess is that the discless system will have a empty slot where the add-on disc drive can slide in? Similar to a PC case where it has the cover/slot for the disc drive.

Well, I'm unlikely to buy a PS5 before a slim model comes out, so I sure hope this is true. The current price of the console is way too high for what it has to offer me, and it doesn't help that the console doesn't exactly look good (although the controller is definitely far worse). I've always been in the Sony camp in regard to consoles, but I've been increasingly dissatisfied with Sony for a long while now...

Price wont change, I highly doubt it will go lower.

As for the looks, I can see it changing.

I dont mind the controller (well , except for the White one).

The console for sure is ugly as hell, I wish there was a black colored version, I prefer my hardware to be black....well except for the Series S - which actually looks nice lol

I'm glad they finally changed the controller, the dualshock design is stuck in the 90s

PS5 digital in upright position looks good in terms of the shape and the lines, it's clear they designed the DE first intending it to be a "feature" piece to stand next to the TV. But the disc version loses out as it looks like it has a deformed growth, and it doesn't look good on it's side. Main problem though even if I were to buy the digital edition & put it upright is how ridiculously huge it is, So a slim version is definitely needed.

A major bonus for Sony to slimming the console down will be shipping & retail space... I think you can fit 5-6 Switch retail boxes in the same volume as a PS5 (might even be 7 of the OLED box)
