Was definitely the best TGA's yet for announcements/trailers. The highlights for me:

  • Hellblade 2 looks bloody gorgeous, might be the overall most realistic looking game so far this generation
  • Arkane making a Blade game is right up my alley
  • Exodus, a new RPG coming from the new AAA studio founded by Bioware veterans, including KOTOR/Mass Effect 1-2/SWTOR writer Drew Karpyshyn and Baldur's Gate 1-2/KOTOR/Dragon Age Origins/SWTOR Creative Director/Lead Designer James Ohlen
  • Visions of Mana coming to Xbox, that new Square CEO is already paying off for Xbox JRPG fans
  • Sega's Super Game project finally revealed, new games in 5 different Sega series, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage (plus more unannounced games)
  • Jurassic Park Survival looks like a super dope survival horror experience
  • The Last Sentinel from Tencent's new AAA Los Angeles studio, set in a futuristic dystopian Tokyo
  • Kemuri from Ikumi Nakamura, the creative director of Ghostwire Tokyo who left midway through development due to stress. The game seems kind of similar to Ghostwire Tokyo which I loved.
  • Metaphor: ReFantasio looked great in the new trailer, this may be my first Atlus game as it seems more up my alley than Persona
  • No Rest for the Wicked, the new action-RPG from Moon Studios, the developers of Ori and the Blind Forest, utilizing the same hand drawn artwork to in-game graphics conversion process

Now bring on Developer Direct! January or February? Hopefully.

AND THE GOOD NEWS DON'T STOP FOR XBOX JUST YET BECAUSE BOBBY K WILL BE LEAVING SOON!

Seems like it was another good year to skip Geoff's vanity project. Cool announcements from the xbox. Thank fuck Balls Gate 3 won, will be buying that to support them devs.

Didn't watch any of the trailers. FF winning most anticipated over Like a Dragon is trash. Nice surprises from Xbox. Announce the DEveloper Direct after Christmas time and we golden, or 1st week in January.

What I find odd is that Certain Affinity said they are announcing their project in December...Why would you not announce it at TGAs? What else is there? Lol. Maybe their plans have changed but it was a very recent statement. Now I don't think it was Lobo they were talking about so it either has to be the Monster Hunter-like game or Project Tatanka, I mean they've technically already announced them all so we must be talking actual trailers here so maybe they've just put them into a Developer Direct early 2024?

Or maybe they planned to reveal their MH-like title at TGAs but pulled it after hearing Monster Hunter itself was being announced, to avoid a direct comparison on the same day, though honestly I didn't think much to that MH trailer.

In regards to the awards, pretty much hit the nail on the head with most of the categories. Think I only got the best sim/strategy one wrong, didn't care about that one either way as FE Engage was the only game I played in that list and I thought it was a pretty mediocre FE game but voted for it anyway out of my love for the series.

But yeah, congrats to BG3 and Alan Wake 2 on their respective wins.

Or maybe it was in TGAs but they noped out when they heard Monster Hunter was being announced, Lol.

Delayed to the very likely Q1 2024 Xbox Developer Direct I'm guessing. Probably Suerte, the Monster Hunter-like, considering the rumors of Tatanka being expanded into a full Halo game with singeplayer and all, that'll be quite a few years off if true as 343 only recently started restaffing up a singleplayer team after laying off the old one in 2022.

So, after all the drama about Xbox not getting any GOTY nominations, it ended up getting more awards than PS...

I do think Xbox deserved all of the 3 wins they got, Best Racing was clearly deserved by Forza, Innovation in Accessibility was also deserved by Forza considering the accessibility options on display, including the ability to let the game handle all car acceleration to cut down on finger fatigue from needing to hold down the spring resistance right trigger to accelerate and allow disabled gamers to play more easily. HiFi Rush clearly deserved Best Audio Direction considering the innovative use of audio in the game, including having the element of the game world itself move to the beat and tying attack sounds into the game's music.

Xbox additionally deserved to win Best Multiplayer on Diablo 4 but lost due to critics still being salty about the acquisition and critics making up 90% of the voting power in The Game Awards.

As for Sony, I do think they deserved to win Best Action-Adventure over Zelda, as Spidey 2 seemed like a more of a proper sequel than Zelda TOTK, which felt like more of a rehash of the first game from what I saw of it. But Nintendo has the most critic bias of the 3 console makers, there was no way Zelda was walking out of The Game Awards without a single award.

Why the fuck didn’t they show this trailer then?

But they *did* show that trailer. It starts with: *Now* is the time for *you*to join the others and complete our destiny.
