Of course they are. Ubisoft games are literally always on sale lol.

Seriously, are there humans alive who still buy their games at full price? If I knock you over the head during the midnight launch of their games, it'll be on sale by the time you regain consciousness. Like, blink and you'll miss the first price drop.

$10 that he's joining frigging Jar of Sparks which has poached multiple senior 343i employees lately: Jerry Hook (Head of Design), Paul Crocker (Campaign Associate Creative Director), Stephen Dyck (Character Director), Greg Stone (Principal Lead Producer), Martin Deschambault (Associate Art Director). Microsoft is being clowned in their own backyard

NetEase is one to watch, they're doing the same in Japan too, they've hired Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Capcom Producer of 27 years) and they also set up a studio entirely around Toshihiro Nagoshi (Yakuza Creator). If Tom is leaving for Jar of Sparks, then Microsoft needs to start getting more competitive in their own area.

343 losing key employees right on a hiring freeze too, Lol.

Please acquire Certain Affinity/Skybox Labs the moment ABK is done...

Hmm, if you complained about 343 since they took over Halo, why would you care if someone poached their staff.  If anything you probably should be like good riddance maybe 343 can hire new blood to bring them into the future.

I didn't.

But it is true that a lot of people called for a shakeup at 343 for years and well, this is what it would look like, Lol.

Tom French, Stephen Dyck and Martin Deschambault were great. They also lost Sparth who was also great.

Don't really think we can say the Producers at 343 did a very good job though, Lol. So, I don't mind those leaving.

It's awkward to lose a lot of senior staff during a partial hiring freeze too.

Microsoft Corp. is ready to fight for its $69 billion acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard Inc. if the US Federal Trade Commission files a lawsuit seeking to block the deal, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The Xbox maker hasn't had conversations with the FTC about remedies or concessions aimed at getting the deal approved, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing a confidential matter. FTC staff is wrapping up its investigation and is expected to make a recommendation soon, the person added. The FTC commissioners would then vote on whether to file a case.

In the event the FTC tries to block the case, Microsoft is gearing up to contest that decision in court, said the person, who asked not to be identified speaking about internal strategy.

Microsoft has offered Sony a deal in which it would make Call of Duty games available on the PlayStation for a decade, although the companies would need to work out financial terms for that agreement, the person said.

The software giant has advised regulators of those discussions, but hasn't formally made a remedy proposal because the review process hasn't advanced to that stage, the person said.

Because of the different stages of the various probes around the world, Microsoft is likely to discuss this step first with the European Commission, which has set a March 23 deadline to complete its in-depth review of the deal.

Microsoft is hoping the remedies it offers the EU will suffice globally, the person said. It's possible that UK regulators could want additional steps from the company, however.

Microsoft and the CMA will both appear at a main party hearing in mid-December, a part of the UK merger process that will allow them to hash out and test the parties arguments. An interim decision by the agency is expected by January and the deadline for the full decision is March.

Wonder if Microsoft leaked that on purpose to try to scare FTC off suing to block if they intend to do so, they have to know that they'd lose in court and waste everyone's time and money, Microsoft doesn't yet know what they're doing but with the rumours that they may sue to block (and Phil liking that article about how it would harm consumers if the deal was blocked, Lol). It would not surprise me if Microsoft were feeling a bit nervous.

Stick this article out and FTC now knows Microsoft's position, they wouldn't exactly say it publicly now when nobody knows what FTC's decision will be, but they could leak their intentions if it were to be blocked in a scenario. Don't imagine they'd ring up FTC either and be like "hey, we heard you might sue to block from Politico, see you in court"

That meeting with the CMA in December to hash out and debate will be critical, Microsoft better get its best lawyers on that as the CMA is arguably the regulator that they most need to prevent escalating to a block.

True but I feel when senior staff leave its a good thing.  The reason why as developers when you lose your spark and motivation its time to go to new ground to get it back.  Halo being a mature product, its hard to shake it up to much.  Do to much and alienate your current base, do to little and not grow your base.

Personally, I would love to see 343 give the reigns to another studio and let them reboot the whole thing.  Sort of how SSM did with God of war but I doubt that will happen.  Maybe it would be cool to let The Coalition and 343 swap IPs, now that would be interesting.  Let both teams reboot Gears and Halo might kickstart those juices agains.

Wow what's the point when all the games listed there are full price. You basically get a 50% discount which is worse than what you get during regular sales.

I like the idea though. Ubisoft is just doing it wrong.

There is an easy punch card in the rewards app that gives you 500 points by just unlocking one achievement in one of the selected Game Pass games.

Ofc it's Ubisoft who jumps first with that, it literally had to be them. Ubisoft, creating the most value worthless games for the last decade.
