Very beautiful and easy hint for the last game before the top 20. New year's is closing in fast, too fast...

Last chance for these two, they've been hanging round a while.

#36 (incorrect guesses - A Short Hike)
- Do you want to go hiking or mountain climbing?
- I killed him earlier, why’s he still on the floor? Oh well, I’ll walk past and… no, wait, he’s alive, and more deadly than before.
- Opening that door is a riskier move this time around.
- There's a moment late on where running is a risky move. You're in trouble if you haven't cleared the hallways beforehand.
- A lot of iconic dialogue is now sadly missing.
- A remake of a game that was originally intended to be a remake itself

#30
- Now you have to collect stat points and equipment upgrades, rather than finding / earning the money to do so.
- Features the first appearance in the series of a person better known for featuring on a stunt / prank show.
- There's also a Marvel character and a Star Wars character available as unlockables.
- Like other games in this series, it features a soundtrack of licenced songs from rock and hip hop artists
- The game's title features the name of probably the most prominent figure from this particular field.

Next set of hints.

#20

-You can eat a fish to end things early (Nier: Automata)

#19

-In something of a rare case, this game has an unreliable narrator as the main character

-The main character has confused his own past with that of his friend who passed away

#18

-Shards of the primordial man became queens of the kingdoms

-Everything leads back to the first sin

#17

-Moving the statues out of alignment changes the world

-The game is divided into two parts, the dividing line between the two being the moving of the statues mentioned in the previous hint

#16

-All life on earth was extinguished around a thousand years ago

-It was brought back, but not in the way that was intended, thanks to one man's fragile ego and nihilism

19) Final Fantasy VII

Not too sure about the others but I'll venture some guesses:

18) Dark Souls II?

17) Xenoblade Chronicles?

30) Took me a while to realize but this is a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game right? Don't know the series well though so I'll just say... 3?

24) To be fair the game does warn you when you go down the dark path
Hint 2: Which is appropriate since it's a lot harder
Hint 3: Though I didn't really have a bad time until maybe the fiftieth time dying to the final boss

I will attempt to turn this into a dead giveaway with the slightest little change.

18) Dark Souls II?

17) Xenoblade Chronicles?

19 and 18 are correct, 17 is wrong.

Both correctly guessed - explanations to some clues

#36 - Resident Evil Remake @coolbeans
- Do you want to go hiking or mountain climbing? - this question gets asked at the start as a means of selecting difficulty (on the GameCube at least, never played other versions)
- I killed him earlier, why’s he still on the floor? Oh well, I’ll walk past and… no, wait, he’s alive, and more deadly than before. - a reference to Crimson Heads
- Opening that door is a riskier move this time around. - A reference to the front door - if you open it in this version a cerberus comes in and you have to fight it, whereas in the original it just pokes its head in and you close the door
- There's a moment late on where running is a risky move. You're in trouble if you haven't cleared the hallways beforehand. - running with that fuel sample thing near the end - it can easily explode if you go too quickly (and obviously shooting is out of the question). I once had this and came across some Crimson Heads - needless to say I was screwed
- A lot of iconic dialogue is now sadly missing.
- A remake of a game that was originally intended to be a remake itself. - The plan for the original was to remake Sweet Home

#30 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - @UnderwaterFunktown
- Now you have to collect stat points and equipment upgrades, rather than finding / earning the money to do so.
- Features the first appearance in the series of a person better known for featuring on a stunt / prank show. - Bam Margera
- There's also a Marvel character and a Star Wars character available as unlockables. - Wolverine and Darth Maul
- Like other games in this series, it features a soundtrack of licenced songs from rock and hip hop artists
- The game's title features the name of probably the most prominent figure from this particular field. - Tony Hawk, obviously.

You know, I'm dumb, because I made a mistake with this hint which I realise now due to your answer. Especially funny that it happens for this series of all series. I mistakenly put another game where the antagonist gets resurrected again in the wrong timeline in my head, the Wind Waker timeline instead of the other one. Must be the artstyles. I'll give you a free shot, my 18 isn't Wind Waker, but...

I think I'm still a little confused

Twilight Princess?

Yes. Ganondorf dies in Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, and according to the official timeline he gets resurrected again in Four Swords Adventures which takes place after Twilight Princess. In my head however I thought for a minute when I wrote the hint that FSA was on Wind Waker’s branch of the timeline (so I thought WW’s Ganon would be revived) instead. Which means your answer at first, Wind Waker, would have been correct if my hint was correct.

YoY: -2     My Rating: 9.2/10

Hideo Kojima is a fascinating person to talk about, isn't he? He has carved out a niche for himself that is unlike that of just about any other video game creator in history. His games tackle challenging subjects like nuclear war, child soldiers, genetic manipulation, war propaganda, and various other political and philosophical  themes through stories that are often poignant and heartbreaking in equal measure. And then, he follows them with some of the most inane and childish scenes in video game history, causing such tonal whiplash to leave players guessing whether he's a genius, insane, or both. At this point, it's just something people have accepted as part of his games' weird charm.

As far as I'm concerned, Kojima's best work to date is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This was the game where his most eccentric tendencies were at least somewhat kept in check, and as a result the story doesn't get overly convoluted and the characters' motivations remain clear and understandable throughout. The poignant moments are genuinely earned, and the silliness never gets too ridiculous. Part of the reason for this may have been the fact that it's a prequel to the rest of the MGS series, meaning that many of the franchise's weirder elements weren't weighing it down yet. Naturally, it still features Kojima's trademark style, but not to its own detriment. It's just a great game.
