Alright, final hint time:

13) Both light and dark are your enemy
Hint 2: But only one of them commit genocide
Hint 3: Against the massive cast of beloved characters
Hint 4: Only the pink puffball survives

12) The first thing you see in this game is the character that stalked you throughout its predecessor
Hint 2: And who was kind enough to offer you a job at the end of the first game
Hint 3: "Not that I wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job, no one is more deserving of a rest."
Hint 4: The one free man

11) The original english voice actor for the protagonist is the one that's in everything, but they changed it for the remaster
Hint 2: And funnily enough the protagonist's name is very similar to another prominent voice actor
Hint 3: The first voice actor has voiced (Lego) Batman while the second has voiced Spider-Man
Hint 4: So just to summarize what we know this JRPG protag was originally voiced by Troy Baker and has a name that sounds very similar to Yuri Lowenthal

Smash Ultimate. Confirmed Kirby as the most powerful entity in the universe.

#38: Mario Kart 64

Most of my memories of Mario Kart 64 are time spent in the Battle Mode playing with friends and family. Looking back on it, it's amazing how much fun we squeezed out of so little content, the Battle Mode only has 4 maps and Big Donut kinda sucks. Block Fort and Skyscraper were our favorites and we could spend hours chasing each other around those maps, making sharp turns to evade a red shell or running straight at someone overconfident and popping a star at the last second.

@Mnementh and @UnderwaterFunktown - both correct with Breath of the Wild and Okami respectively.

Correct! Was there ever any doubt?

#37:Tekken Tag Tournament

Playstation 2 didn't have the best launch lineup but it did have Tekken Tag Tournament. So many hours were spent playing against my brother pitting teams of Tekken fighters against each other. As a spin-off, the game features characters that are supposed to be dead or retired in the game's canon so I got to play Jun and Michelle again! The tag mechanic was a nice change of pace from classic Tekken with neat tag throws were one character would perform a throw followed by your reserve character tagging in to perform an extra hit.

#36:Resident Evil 2 (2019)

The original Resident Evil 2 is a brilliant game (more on that later) so I took a cautious approach when the remake was announced. Would they butcher it with  RE6 style gameplay? Thankfully, Capcom did RE2 justice, even with the over the shoulder perspective how you handle zombies is relatively close to the original, which means encounters are very tense because rapid fire is not really an option. The police station looks amazing in HD, puzzles have been added or changed, the Tyrant is really intimidating and it felt so good to reconnect with classic RE gameplay. My main complaint about the game is that there's no point in doing Leon A, Claire B and then Claire A and Leon B like in the original since it doesn't change the events like it did before.

#35:Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I have a weird history with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I bought it at launch, played about a few hours of it, didn't click with it and I then got distracted by other games and left it untouched for a year or two. I went back to it at some point, started back from scratch made it to chapter 4 and kinda stopped playing.

"What the hell is it doing on your list then?" you ask? Well, in the meantime, I played Xenoblade Chronicles: Definite Edition for a hundred hours and liked it a lot. Then I saw previews for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and I told myself I would purchase it but I felt I needed to at least finish the story of XC2 before doing so.

Having not played in so long, I didn't remember much of the combat system and got my ass handed to me frequently. I started watching YouTube videos explaining all the ins and outs of the combat system and realized I never played the game properly up until that point. That's when the game finally clicked and I found myself not only finishing the story but doing all the end game content I could, levelled my rare blades, took on the battle arena challenges, found a way to level up Poppi QTPi without playing Tiger! Tiger! (seriously fuck that mini-game), started a new game plus for the extra blades it provided, made it back to the end game and suddenly it's my most played Switch game at 150 hours clocked.

One thing though, I still hate the gotcha mechanic tied to unlocking blades but they at least made farming items fun with driver combos.

13: Uncharted 4:
I love Uncharted 4, the biggest thing that holds me back from loving it more is the pacing. It isn't quite as good as 2 in that regard. But the story is much more interesting than most of the Uncharted games. The visuals are all around gorgeous and it plays well.

14: LittlebigPlanet:
Some of my best memories on the PS3. Customizing Sackboy is great. Has some great local multiplayer. Has incredibly impressive level creating, and it has been a huge joy to play through.

YoY: -1          My Rating: 9.4/10

Naughty Dog's masterpiece remains just as effective an experience today as when it was first released almost a decade ago. From one of the most harrowing and heartbreaking opening scenes in video game history, all the way to its final bittersweet plot beats, this was the developer at its best, especially in terms of storytelling and writing. The world Naughty Dog created here was darker than anything it had done before, with little moments of levity sprinkled throughout to keep the game from becoming too depressing.

The game also features a truly intense and often genuinely terrifying gameplay experience, an excellent soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla, and absolutely gorgeus visuals regardless of which version of the game you play. In addition, the game also received one of my all-time favourite DLC expansions in Left Behind, which gave us a wonderful glimpse into Ellie's backstory before the events of the game. It's great to see her simply being a happy kid for a while, even if that obviously can't last.

Not only is The Last of Us Naughty Dog's best work to date, but it is also one of the very best games of its generation, and easily among the most emotionally impactful games I've ever played. Being willing to end a game on something other than an unambiguously happy note is still all too rare in video games, and it was done expertly here.
