#35:Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I have a weird history with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I bought it at launch, played about a few hours of it, didn't click with it and I then got distracted by other games and left it untouched for a year or two. I went back to it at some point, started back from scratch made it to chapter 4 and kinda stopped playing.

"What the hell is it doing on your list then?" you ask? Well, in the meantime, I played Xenoblade Chronicles: Definite Edition for a hundred hours and liked it a lot. Then I saw previews for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and I told myself I would purchase it but I felt I needed to at least finish the story of XC2 before doing so.

Having not played in so long, I didn't remember much of the combat system and got my ass handed to me frequently. I started watching YouTube videos explaining all the ins and outs of the combat system and realized I never played the game properly up until that point. That's when the game finally clicked and I found myself not only finishing the story but doing all the end game content I could, levelled my rare blades, took on the battle arena challenges, found a way to level up Poppi QTPi without playing Tiger! Tiger! (seriously fuck that mini-game), started a new game plus for the extra blades it provided, made it back to the end game and suddenly it's my most played Switch game at 150 hours clocked.

One thing though, I still hate the gotcha mechanic tied to unlocking blades but they at least made farming items fun with driver combos.
