Forums - Gaming Discussion - CD Projekt announces long term roadmap. 5 new Witcher games, 1 new Cyberpunk, 1 new IP

So, internally they are going to be working on a new Witcher trilogy, a new Cyberpunk game, and a new IP at the same time. Meanwhile they have licensed out both a smaller Witcher side game to Molasses Flood and a story driven open world Witcher RPG to a currently unknown studio led by former CD Projekt veterans. They must be planning an internal expansion if they plan to work on 3 IP's at once internally, they are already working on the new Witcher trilogy and it seems like they plan for work on the Cyberpunk sequel to begin as soon as the Cyberpunk DLC releases, plus the new IP is already in incubation and will presumably begin full development in the next few years.

Missed this one. Seems that most of these will have some form of multiplayer functionality. The 3rd party Witcher RPG specifically says that it is singleplayer, while the new CDP Witcher trilogy slide seems to imply that the MP functionality will likely just be co-op. Cyberpunk 2 could have competitive MP as was originally planned for Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch, before CDP cancelled it to fix the game.

So they're making a story-driven open-world Witcher RPG internally and they contracted a 3rd party to make a story-driven open-world Witcher RPG.

Nice.

Yep. And it says the studio they contracted it out to is lead by former Witcher devs who left CDP, so it seems like the licensed game will be in good hands. Probably a prequel focused on Vesemir or something if I had to guess, while the new CDP trilogy is implied to be set after Witcher 3.

Seems like they didn't get the news that Stadia is dead.

Probably made the slide before the Stadia closing announcement and forgot to update it. Stadia is closing in January and Phantom Liberty is rumored for a Spring release, so after Stadia closes it's servers.

CD Projekt's new North American division will be heading the Cyberpunk sequel? That'll be interesting!

Yep, Cyberpunk 2 is being developed by CDP's Vancouver and Boston teams working in collab. Seems like CDP Warsaw, Cracow, and Wroclaw will be working on the new Witcher trilogy and the new IP. Then Molasses Flood (which is owned by CDP) is making the smaller Witcher side game, and the 3rd party studio founded by former Witcher devs is making the other, non trilogy Witcher RPG.

So just the three Witcher sequels, two Witcher spin-offs, one Cyberpunk sequel, and a new IP.

This is way too much. Like way, waaayy to much. I doubt they can handle all this stuff at once but even if they do, why announce it all this early on.
