Forums - Sony - Rumors of a strange new Remaster/Remake for PS5

I mean Nintendo also had their WII U remasters? New Super mario bros WII U deluxe, Xenblade Chronicles 1 from Wii era to Switch Skyward Sword ETC.

One of the big reasons TLOU Part 1 and now Horizon is getting people to raise their eyebrows is because those games could already be played on PS5 through backwards compatibility.
Wii U games can't be played on Switch, so a port for those makes sense in that regard.

This Remaster is probably not going to be particularly time consuming/costly, but I think its resources that could have been spent on remastering something we can't already play on PS5.

Remake of games like FF7 is dope due to the leap in development due to advancements in technology making it almost a totally different game. But remaking/remastering of games one generation ago is so fucking lazy, pathetic and reeks of cash grabbing. If they continuing doing this the whole remake trend which has yielded some quality games will die.

If they're making new games why would it matter if they remaster/ remake (most likely just a PS5 specific SKU in this case) some games?

Remakes are great!... Just not of games that are a couple years old. Can we not agree on that?

Not sure why that would matter.

Would it be unnecessary? Sure. If this is all the company was doing? Sure, that would be incredibly disappointing.

But in the case here, it's ppl getting upset for the sake of it. The initial rumour is saying 'remaster/ remake', when the leaked document clearly says 'remaster'.

Based on what Sony have been doing, it's most likely just a PS5 update for the game. Nothing more.

Cannot understand why they dont just patch in the accessibility options and visual improvements.. but they need that $70 price tag.

Eh...so used to "enhanced" ports at this time. It will probably just be a 10$ upgrade if you own the PS4 version or maybe even a free upgrade.

Tl;Dr: Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster/Remake for PS5.

If this is true, like TLOU1 Remake was, there will be even more complaints this time around.

Xenoblade is not  remaster. New engine. New models, geomtry in the environment. New QOL changes and a new 10 hour story. Re-recorded music. As for Wii U games. No one owned a Wii U and Wii U discs don't work on Switch. PS5 can play pretty much all PS4 games.

It could be made available through virtual console or the games that now are given through the online benefit?

Well, sure but that also requires a port process.
Or are you refering to something else?

Nope. I don't know how much the VC emulator of Switch needs of work for each title inserted there.

Its depends on the game. For examle old PS1 era games commonly had this programming setting to use "all available CPU power" etc.
When those games are run on a modern system, the FPS goes through the roof and the game operates at like 500x the original speed because using the full CPU power on a modern system is much higher than what it was back in those days.
