On Era Chris has maintained that Switch Lite has had stock issues for the last month.

Oled has minor issues. And Ps5 goes away all week.

Ok bold prediction time: Switch 2022 will be the best selling year for the Switch in Japan. On Pokemon Launch day they will sell 700K switch.

I know I need to touch grass. But let a man dream.

I can't remember if we had any console yet which was able to sell more than 400k within one week in Japan...

Since most of the Xbox consoles sold in Japan are Series S, I wonder if the rise of Xbox could be related by the size of the current consoles. XSX and PS5 are huge compared to even the fat PS3, let alone older consoles. The Series S instead fits much better into a smaller home where space comes at a premium, like in many Japanese cities.

Absolutely. Cheaper, available and great form factor.

DS sold:

603k in japan week ending dec 24th 2005

492k week ending dec 23th 2006

458k week ending dec 4th 2004

3DS sold:

497k week ending dec 24th 2011

422k week ending dec 22nd 2012

Switch best week so far has been what ? 390k? There is still room for improvement. Switch hasn't reached 400k week, 450k, 500k let alone the record braking DS week of over 600k.

DS was nuts in Japan in 2nd/3rd year

Switch best week is 380k by the looks of it, which also appears to be the only time any hardware* has sold over 300k outside of holiday/launch weeks.... power of lockdown boredom.

*at least from DS/PSP till now... i'm curious what things like Pokemon release on GBC & GBA might have done to sales.

At the rate Pokémon is selling in pre orders
The switch is going to have a massive end to the year in Japan

Between Pokémon, splatoon and Zelda in the first half of 2023 switch sales should be steady for the rest of the year into next.

Ggs Xbox, nice recovery after the xbone

The Switch will never reach these massive numbers in a single week because it's sales are more spread out over the year and they just don't have enough stock in place for so many sales at once.
