But what if Armor Project say yes?

Why would they? They have always followed the market leader and have recently gone multiplat. Accepting a moneyhat from Sony would be detrimental to the growth of the IP and the sales of DQ XII and future installments. Square Enix executives like taking checks for short term profit. Yuji Horii on the other hand is making DQ games out of passion and wants them to succeed. Dragon Quest is his baby.

If he does say yes to a PS5 exclusivity offer for DQ XII, they will be lucky if it sells 2mil WW lifetime. 80% of the DQ fanbase is in Japan. DQ XI sold 2mil at launch in Japan on PS4 and 3DS.

80% of MH fanbase was in Japan as well. World sold more than 20 million copies still

We never know when a franchise can make a worldwide breaktrough. I'm not implying DQ will sell as much, but if they can sell let's say 6 to 7 million copies even losing half of JP sales is a good business for them, because it can solidy the IP internationally to sell even better in the next installment

Lol 30.5m...where did that rumor come from?? That's hilarious. If PS5 can hit 20.5m in its peak year that'll be great for the system.

Tom Henderson.

It's not that surprising that Sony is aiming to produce 30M+ PS5's for FY23, they originally expected FY22 to be a record breaking year for PlayStation hardware (22M+), and some of those consoles will stockpiled for Q1 of 2024. If anything, it says a lot about how Sony is focused on growing their brand in China, RoTW + the Middle East, as they've mentioned in the past.

yes lets stockpile consoles instead of getting them in consumers hands

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Tom Henderson said that Sony aimed to produce over 30M PS5's by the time the revision came out, with 12M being the old model, and 18M being the new model (Sept 23).

Monster Hunter never got a really big push outside of Japan before MHW. That was the first time it got a huge marketing campaign and was treated like a genuinely big deal.

With Dragon Quest Nintendo has tried to push the franchise in the west starting with the very first installment. And only with DQ IX they actually for the first time succeeded to get it to sell over 1mil outside of Japan. With MH that had already happened with several games, which include MH4U and MHGU.

Ever heard of speculation? Tom Henderson didn't say anything about stockpiling. That's just something that some companies tend to do in certain situations.

so you agree its not very likely
