If you like RPG's it was a pretty good Direct I feel. 8/10 for me, the biggest highlight being Fire Emblem.

I think I’m just more into the more long-form informative formats. There are games that I’d probably really love, but I’d never know by watching this Direct: a sterile presentation with pallid details on just about all of the 387 games they showed. To me, it felt kind of pointless. A perfect of this is:
“Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Sun, a game about Link falling from very very high up, releasing like 8 months from now.”
This is Zelda, the sequel to Breath of the Wild, arguably the greatest game ever made. Yet, when it was on the screen, I found myself not giving a shit.
So, Final thoughts: I think this Direct undersold, perhaps, every single game they showed.
But anyway, that’s just my thoughts. The format obviously works for some people. I see video clips of Nintendo youtubers so ecstatic by this Direct that these grown men were shouting whilst flailing about absurdly like that 9 year old N64-kid.
Maybe next time they have a Direct like this I should pound some whisky, that would change my mood :D

cool!
Too many JRPGs and farming sims for my liking.
| Doctor_MG said: It had a little too many farm life sims for me, tbh. However, the announcements of Fire Emblem, Octopath 2, Pikmin 4, and the release date for Tears of the Kingdom REALLY boosted the overall direct for me. Add that to Tales of Symphonia remastered, Goldeneye (and other N64 games), and Kirby return to Dreamland...and I'll give it a 7. Good, not great, but some surprises kept me excited. |
When he said let's talk about Pikmin and then started talking about Pikmin Bloom I was like wtffffffff??!? Luckily it was just a tease.
Yeah sooo many farm games haha. But tons of new games or remastered games announced.
If I still played games a ton I'd be looking to pick up a bunch of these. As for my current only occasionally playing Switch a ton and then putting it down for a few months gaming strategy, I don't buy as many games anymore. LoZ:TotK is an obvious pickup, might get Octopath 2 as I *almost* bought the first game and the second one looks very cool, Pikmin 4 is a possibility, Mario + Rabbids will be a Xmas present to myself, will get Switch Sports once Golf comes out so maybe another Xmas present to myself, also that Kirby game looks pretty cool I've never owned a Kirby game before and had to look up what system that originally came out on but that's another maybe, and once GoldenEye comes out I'm gonna have to finally get the Expansion Pack.

It was the TGS Direct, what do you expect?

The amount of Farming JRPGs was comical. I wonder how they decide what to show in the Directs?
The amount of games shown was overwhelming. Lots coming to Switch.
I haven't seen much mention of the Resident Evil Games coming to Switch. I guess it's because people hate Cloud versions. Better than nothing though.
Still no Advance Wars release date. Screw Nintendo and screw Putin.

There were some good games shown. But as a direct, it was very badly done, 3/10. It should have been split in two, they could put all the smaller stuff, the ADs, I call them, in a different direct.
Go watch the 4 minute Octopath 2 trailer on the PS5. Way better. Should have just picked the top 6 games, and made that the direct. Shown twice as much BOTW2 stuff. It was shallow.
Watch the Sony State of Play, I'm not a Sony fan, but their Direct was way better. Well done Sony today.

It was a pretty mixed bag. Not much for me in the first half, then Miyamoto went on to talk for 2 minutes about a mobile game that released last year, not even because it got a big update or anything, just to remind people it existed. Then thankfully he redeemed himself with the Pikmin 4 reveal, tho it would have been more hype if it was more out of the blue, rather than a sigh of relief after a completely redundant section.
Then there was Tales of Symphonia which I'm happy to see coming to Switch, but since I replayed it not too long ago, I'm not certain I'll get it myself, we'll see when we get closer to release. And then of course The Legend of Zelda Tears for Fears title reveal + release date was an great way to end thing. I don't even mind that the trailer was so short, since I like going into games without knowing too much.
I'd give it 6.5/10 in total. Better than several Directs in recent years, but definitely not the best either.

It was ok. But basically nothing for me. Lets hope Advance wars drops before the holiday so I have something that I like to play.
