Forums - Gaming - Does the Steam Deck REALLY Destroy the Switch?

I absolutely 100% agree with this.  If the Switch didn't work so well as a home console I wouldn't own one.  I'm not giving up 65 inch TV in 5.1 surround for a 5 inch screen in stereo.  If I get a Steam Deck, I will like use it as a home console for some old roms.

Tbh, if I ever do get to own one, it's going to be semi portable for me with indie titles and older games, at home docked it's going to be used for prev gen games and a multimedia device.

I used my Switch 90% in handheld mode, because I actually grew up more with Nintendo's handhelds than I did their home consoles, so that's what I'm more used to (also prob didn't help that I used my Switch as an indie machine, because this gen of 1st part outside of Zelda/AC really did not interest me at all).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Nintendo Switch - 2017 at $299
Steam Deck - 2022 at $399/$649

It would be laughable to extreme levels if Steam Deck wasn't much more powerful than Switch and didn't come with a baked-in software library.

Will they even report sales numbers?

I imagine they will if it passes 10 million.

Yeah, I guess Valve will announce major sales milestones.

Nintendo Switch - early 2017 at $299
Nintendo Switch OLED - late 2021 at $349

It would be laughable to extreme levels if Switch OLED wasn't much more powerful than Switch... oh wait, it isn't.

But the more interesting part is on the mobile side. Steam Deck only supports mobile. And yet people that say they Steam Deck over Switch usually don't own either, as they are dislike handheld gaming from the get go.”

This argument of yours is going to be hard to support with evidence.

I mean PC is going to have a better library than any console especially now that Sony is even bringing some of their bigger console IP to the PC (and by extension Steam Deck).

Throw in emulation, and yeah sure, it's going to have the better library.

Steam Deck should be better hardware wise it's 5 years later (really 7 years as the Tegra X1 is a 2015 product) and it's also a larger device with higher heat dissipation, so that's not really going to surprise anyone.

But at this point Steam Deck is purely an enthusiast product as it's only available through Steam Store and in limited quantities. I'll be interested to see Steam Deck 2.

Any reason you had to lie about the Switch OLED release date?

This thread boils down to this: the same old people hating the same company, with one difference this time sony systems are so far below nintendo so they can't use that argument against nintendo so suddenly they're fans from valve and the steam deck, but it's the same shit from 2014 perpetrated by the same old trolls, the obvious question would be what the hell did nintendo do to them hahahaha

The Switch OLED launched in the last quarter of 2021 worldwide:
