Forums - Sales Discussion - Switch Tops 109M Units, XS Outsells PS5 - Global Hardware June 12-18

Wow, every time I see that Xbox got a push and Sony down, and the next week the situation is opposited that the previous week...
At this rate both consoles will end with similar numbers.

About Switch... Damn, if Nintendo does not kill it soon, it will reach or at least will be around the numbers of PS2/NDS
Hope it can be success, but I rly don't see it due its difficult.

I've been sent some more data thanks to @Welfare that shows we overtracked the Xbox Series X|S from January 2021 to October 2021 by roughly 210,000 units in the US. Taking a quick look most of the difference occurred in January, February, and October. I'm working on the adjustments right now.

okay, so then the front page will show 15.16m instead of 15.37m. 5.3m gap between Series and PS5 instead of 5.09m

Something like that. Though I will take a look at our other data for those months, so it might end up being a bit higher or lower than that. He provided a breakdown of the monthly figures for PS5 and XS for the US for those months. While XS was overall overtracked, there were months it was undertracked as well.

Adjustments have been made for the Xbox Series X|S. I've updated the weekly breakdown article. With the Xbox Series X|S being overtracked in the US by about 210,000 units, I also adjusted down our Canada estimates. But I also got some new data that showed we were a bit low in some smaller markets.

Worldwide Xbox Series X|S numbers before and after adjustments:

  • Before: 15,371,011
  • After: 15,225,211

Change: Down 145,800

Even if it is only for one week, it is insane seeing Xbox outselling PlayStation in Japan! I would have never thought that could happen.

And this would be the 2nd week within the last month or so.

Switch just casually putting away over a million a month during the quiet time of the year at this stage of its life is still crazy to me.
It's got stamina like a thoroughbred.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023. (And over 130 million lifetime)

I can influence websites now >:)

Happy to help. Someone tagged me on Twitter asking if Xbox was ahead of PS5 in the US and someone was saying it did in NA. Didn't want that info to spread.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287
