Sony has variety. Don't know why people would say they haven't. Nintendo and so y both lack in certain genres.

Sony and Ninty don't have a staple FPS.
Sony hasn't got a karting IP and Ninty hasn't got a Sim racer.

Both are creative. People forget Sony brought EyeToy to the market before Ninty released the Wii.
Ninty brought us Rumble.

Ninty gave us amazing puzzle games and platformers, Sony gave us the play create share games.

Both have massively given to the Industry, but the big difference is Ninty has been doing it for longer and their franchises like Pokémon, Mario and Zelda have such mass appeal, they go far beyond gaming. Mario is arguably bigger than Mickey Mouse.

Sony seems to be getting there now with the likes of Uncharted, God Of War and Spidey. It's a shame Sack Boys Big Adventure didn't make it as big as some Mario games. It was really well made and quenched my thirst of having to play a Mario game.

Another thing is number of studios that people put an emphasis on. Sony may have less studios than MS l, but their output is better and is still getting better. If you look at what Insomniac managed to release and ND and compare that to 343, The Coalition or even Bethesda, it's amazing. Even GG have done really well and SM have worked on several projects as support studios alongside their own game.

The only studio that has managed this sort of out put from MS is Playground games.

The organic growth model to bolster current studios, have synergy between them and new ones, and slowly bringing more I to the fold based on working relationships has massively benefitted Sony and their output.

Turn based rpg, action rpg, tactic rpg?

Very simple OP,  just answer:

-The top selling games of each system?

-Who can survive just by 1st party alone?

Firstly, why are you bringing up Sony output to MS when this is about Nintendo and Sony? It seems like a way to deter from the topic.

Second, the vast majority of the studios MS has acquired since 2018 haven't even released their 1st game under MS so comparing output is not even measurable.

ND released 4 games while 343 released 4 games while both have co-existed. Obsidian is working on 4 games now. MS main reason for such a poor output of 1st party games was the lack of studios. Output from this gen and going forward should not be an issue going forward for MS. I don't think you or many fully understand how many games MS will be publishing going forward. It's going to be a lot.

That is true as I recall Astral Chain has EPD staff as both Producers and Directors of the game same with Fire Emblem.

They also helped with the concept design of Astral Chain.

Yeah thegame was going to be more fantasy but Nintendo suggested it should be Sci Fi/Punk. So glad they did.

Wii U era proved that Nin could still survive.

Not at all. The Wii U proved that Nintendo had to react, cut the console’s expected lifetime short, and come up with a new product because it didn’t take off and was definitely struggling.

The Wii U didn't have Pokémon and many other franchises that released on 3DS or not at all that gen. With their Switch output they could survive way better on their own.
