Forums - Sales - PS5 Ships 17.3 Million Units as of December 2021, PS4 Ships 116.8 Million

I think Sony is gonna beat that 2m expectation for eh upcoming quarters Probably gonna be closer to 3m than 2.

In its peak years was PS4 supply constraint?

The question of catching up (to PS4) is all dependant on whether they'll be able to break that 20m ceiling during peak years. (2023-2025)

AMD will move to 5nm with their cpus by the end of 2022 and so will many other processors.
Those using older technologis for simple components will remain on their current node. Meaning millions of extra chips for the consoles and steam deck.

Microsoft has to be feeling great about the Series S.

Horrible quarter but obviously out of their control.

Shortages may impact future plans if they continue for a while. Curious if it will cause Sony to shift more of its focus to streaming and service games now.

Oh and its very likely XBS outsold PS5 last quarter, based on these shipments

How long ago was the last time Xbox outsold PS globally for a fiscal quarter?

I knew those numbers were too high! =P

I was thinking about something. Sony is reportedly working on a Gamepass competitor codenamed Spartacus, right? Well it will take many hundreds of thousands of PS5 chips to go into server blades for a large scale rollout across all of the main gaming countries, even more if they aim to have the service available in all of the I believe 50+ markets PS5 is sold in. That is alot of PS5 chips that won't have been going into consumer PS5 consoles over the months leading up to the launch of Spartacus (rumored for February launch). Xbox by comparison finished converting their Gamepass servers from XB1 S to Xbox Series X back in June 2021.

In addition to that, it seems like Sony may be experiencing some kind of more significant supply chain issues that they were before. Starting to think those 15m for financial year 2021 and 22m for financial year 2022 predictions that Sony made aren't happening

Do we have an estimate for how many Series S/X's have been made for cloud power? I'd be curious to see how many both companies made including their cloud dedicated consoles.
