Even going back to 2019 and 2020 I remember noticeable drop in PS4 weekly sales and also PS3 and 360 in their late years too.
It is like that the 1st and 2nd weeks of every year show how the sales will continue for the system ...

I know the drops in sales are normal for outgoing systems, but it is interesting how the drops are happening once 1st january hits .. every time, every year for every system

I guess some factors. Around the holidays you have a lot of advertisement for new systems and new games, and that makes the older systems look old. The other might be that the last holdouts catch a sale around the holidays.

People who want to play games that you can't get on PS5 or Xbox Series like Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Monster Hunter Rise, Ring Fit Adventure, Metroid Dread, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Party, etc.

People who want to play their games on the go, or who have very busy lives and don't have a lot of spare time for sitting uninterrupted in front of the TV every day.

People who had a launch Switch or Switch Lite and want to upgrade to the OLED model.
