Don't think I'd put it quite the same way, but yeah I love the original trilogy and I kinda wish they didn't make Matrix Resurrections after seeing it. It's just all wrong lol.

I saw like an hour of it last night and I was confused. Not by the story, but why they decided to make this film.

I'm not the a Matrix fan per se, but I think the first movie was really good. I suspect that's all they came up with and they threw together more story after its success. Not unlike recent Star Wars movies. Reloaded and Revolution were extremely boring and didn't capture what made the original film special, but it felt like they told a complete story.

I am not sure what Resurrections needs to tell, but I literally saw over an hour of Neo remembering who he was, everybody telling him he's special and a bunch of clips from previous movies for seemingly nostalgia reasons. Again, I didn't see the entire film so I can't judge it fairly, but a lot of time was spent doing very little.

I thought so. From the first announcement I knew this was going to be dumb shit. Hollywood blockbuster movies lost their mojo long ago.

Reminds me of the strange pointless decision to make Jason Bourne (The recent one).

Doesn't look like many are. Some were predicting this movie to make $60M-$70M in the US over the 5 day weekend. Looks like it might do that, but only if you add in the international box office.

Personally, I'm glad to see these cash grab movies failing, including Ghostbusters Afterlife and West Side Story. Even some of the more recent Marvel films that have been mediocre at best. And they can't cry about it being because of the pandemic anymore. Not after Spider-Man has been lighting up the box office.

If your movie launched just as theaters were opening in March, I can give you a pass. But, I think it's obvious that getting towards the end of 2020, Covid wasn't what was keeping people from the theaters.
Spider-Man just furthers the point.
