Sony will be launching 5 colours of faceplates for PS5 as well as dualsense controller colours starting in January 2022 in "select regions" so it will likely take a while for all colours to be available worldwide. The faceplates will cost $55, dualsense controllers will likely be the same price as current controllers.

They look cool, I like the one in the middle.

Yep it's quite expensive, hopefully they will start selling consoles with these plates already on instead of the white ones for new buyers. I don't really understand what is stopping third party from selling plates just like they would sell covers for any phone, but Sony threatened D-Brand with legal action... no idea if Sony can win that case. I'm not a legal expert but seems weird they could stop third-party face plates.

Ah I never actually looked at dbrand stuff lol. But yeah I'm sure Chinese plates will happen eventually and there will be nothing Sony can do about that.

Fwiw you can already get them from Chinese wholesalers from websites like Aliexpress for around $20. The quality is nowhere close to the originals though and its not something I would put on my console. There are comparisons on Youtube and they show the plastics used are vastly inferior quality with mould lines/unevenness throughout. The DBrand ones were at least decent quality.

In any case $55 is not that much for an official accessory tbph for something purely cosmetic.

Eh, I already purchased black plates from D-brand with the light strips on them. Cool for those that want them though, digging the purple plates and controller (may pickup that purple controller still though, already bought the midnight black one).

I'd go for the black out of these, but other than it being more norm and opposite of white, it doesn't fit the vibrant stand out colors of the rest. I thought PS5 stood out plenty as is, but with those plates (other than black), man would it take center stage in a room.

Now how long before they have fluorescent plates?

Meh. They look ok but i will just likely buy a skin for the console/controller instead.
