Bad week for Playstation hardware for sure. I'm surprised there's still some new 3DS to be found since they stopped producing them a long time ago. Switch OLED seems to still be selling according to supply.

Yep 17th September 2020 is when 3ds production was confirmed to have ended. So somehow over a year later there's apparently still thousands of brand new 3ds units available.

You would have thought they would have all been flogged by shops at discount rates ages ago.

Strangely enough apparently every single model sold is the 2DS XL too.

They stopped counting the New 3DS/XL at the end of 2020 when it sold below 50 units per week.

Hardware is stock limited all around. I mean, PS5 Digital Edition is practically invisible. Switch sells less than last year, even with a Pokemon release. At least it is better than last week.

To have relation for Software: does anyone have historical numbers for Pokemon remakes and Battlefield?

Famitsu Sales: Week 43, 2016 (Oct 17 - Oct 23)
01./00. [PS4] Battlefield 1 <ACT> (Electronic Arts) {2016.10.21} (¥7.800) - 116.475 / NEW <60-80%>

Famitsu Sales: Week 47, 2018 (Nov 19 - Nov 25)
02./00. [PS4] Battlefield V <ACT> (Electronic Arts) {2018.11.20} (¥7.800) - 98.105 / NEW <40-60%>

Famitsu Sales: Week 47, 2021 (Nov 15 - Nov 21)
03./00. [PS4] Battlefield 2042 <ACT> (Electronic Arts) {2021.11.19} (¥7.909) - 25.268 / NEW
05./00. [PS5] Battlefield 2042 <ACT> (Electronic Arts) {2021.11.19} (¥8.818) - 21.637 / NEW

Looks like ORAS sold 1.5 M. first three days

HGSS sold 1.5 M. first two days

FRLG sold 885 thousand first week.

The numbers are for Japan.

So it's probably safe to assume that with digital BDSP matched or sold more than ORAS and HGSS.

Thx for the numbers, and yeah, physically it is lower, but probably digital is higher on Switch than it was on 3DS.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

Holly cow, 1.4 million for Pokémon, and 22 million LTD for the Switch

BD/SP's opening is the second biggest for the Switch in Japan in physucal sales only behind Animal Crossing. I think digital is now bigger than it was 2019, so it probably also sold better digitally than Sw/Sh.

Predicting 4.5-5mil lifetime sales. 18mil worldwide.

Hmm, so 2042 seems a bit weak, even accounting for eventually higher digital.

So weird to see the Switch still below the 3DS in Japan despite overselling it completely in global.

I really wonder if it will manage to reach DS levels. 2 stuff:
- the DS pretty much died in its 5th year (reaching 29 million in 5 years and 3 million in the coming 3 years after that)
- the Switch seems to have a longer run, so another year at 5+ million should do the trick

Oh yeah these will probably be the best selling remakes I imagine. Pokemon as a franchise is a lot more popular now than it was in 2010 and 2014 when the last remakes came out, also the Switch has a much more active userbase than the DS and 3DS which will also push sales up higher than the last two remakes.

Wow Switch down from last year even though Pokemon launched and last year basically had no holiday title. That's crazy. Either demand has dropped off lately or just supply constraints. I assume there was some supply issues given that Sony only managed 4k PS5s again. I guess most systems are probably going to the US for black friday this week.

Seems like Sony didn't ship any PS4s at all this week.

So is this Pokemon's first week bigger than Sw/Sh?? That's crazy. Didn't expect that! How much did Sw/Sh sell first week?
