How the flippin fuck is NEO: The World Ends With You not nominated on the music category? What the actual hell? This game has one of the best and most original soundtracks I've seen in years!

Nah, Cyberpunk's soundtrack is obviously better. /s

Why is no one talking about the most important award?

Esports Coach of the year. WOW.

I didn't even know those existed.

Pretty mid year in retrospect, but was to be anticipated since it's the year that will be affected by the covid delays the most. Feel like Metroid Dread has a pretty good chance of winning GoTY. It wouldn't in a strong year but against these i feel like it could win.

It's a beloved franchise that has been giving sh*t for years and i feel like that could make the balance tilt in it's favor since in quality and critical acclaim is pretty much on par with the other games.
R&C was really impressive and loved, but i didn't see much people online saying this was their Goty compared to Dread.
RE : Village was pretty big so i think it's Dread's biggest competition.
Deathloop kinda felt short in hype soon after the release so i doubt this will win. I would've put Forza instead.
Psychonauts is kinda niche and particular, could be an upset.
It takes two, don't know much about this game and looks interesting so could take it aswell.

My ranking in chances :

Metroid Dread / Resident Evil VIII
Psychonauts 2
It takes two
Ratchet and Clank
Deathloop

In this site, one of the few ones.

We had plenty of users saying things like:

I haven’t played the game but I can swear that is bad.

Well I can't comment on the gameplay, since I didn't play it myself, but I watched all of it and I hated the story.

I agree with Icaro here. I thought TLOU2 deserved the win. The game was grim, uncomfortable (perhaps deliberately so) and overhanded with its themes, but for all that, it did leave a major impression on me and make me think about it for a considerable amount of time. And that was more than any other game managed that year.

OT: I agree that this year's contenders dont seem to be as strong as we obvously haven't had any huge exclusives drop in the period. However, i do expect next year to be very hotly contested (with Starfield and a number of PS exclusives in the mix) and it will be fascinating to see who wins.

I voted Metroid Dread for GOTY, because, well, it just is :P

This game has made me fall in love with the franchise. I will be getting any Metroid game they release from here on out. It was so good. To me, controlling Samus felt amazing. Like the best controls for a 2D game I've played; similar to how Super Mario Odyssey feels the greatest to control for a 3D platform.

I don't think it will win, but I am happy it was nominated. I would love to be proven wrong. Metroid Dread deserves it.

I'm still stuck on the final boss, grrrr.

I'm absolutely blown away by how good the game feels though.

Just like last year, i am not interested. Until they fix thier botched system and actually make the correct games eligible for GOTY instead of sub genreing them. They will get my interests.

As usual, they snub a Yakuza game. Lost Judgment. Cruis'n Blast snubbed. The World Ends With you Neo snubbed. Monster Hunter Stories 2 snubbed. What idiots decide these things? Why is this award so shit every year?

Please define 'correct', because these games are nominated by 103 different media outlets.

Place the best of the best eligible for overall GOTY. Not sub genreing them off because they dont fit a certent narrative.
