Why are we bringing up U.K sales in a Japanese thread?
Its obvious PS5 software sales in Japan are low, even after factoring in digital.
I believe there was a post in resetera (maybe of a tweet?) Where the estimated PS5 attach rate in Japan was below 1 even with digital.

Sony fans should just accept the PS5s fate in Japan and move on.
PS5 will still get good support (and hopefully soon! Ive been mostly playing PS4 games on it)

You've unaccounted for multiple variables:

- PS5 can play PS4 games

- PS5 has an extensive F2P and PS+ collection.

I don't think Sony fans are the ones unable to accept. PS5, like the PS4, will have the best Japanese third party support compared to SW or Xbox, and will have many third party exclusive or timed exclusive games.

If PS5 sells 9-10M and 60-80M software then its continued what the PS3 and PS4 generally did, showing that there is a stable userbase in Japan.

Stable, but at a relatively low level. They're very much a secondary player in the Japanese market in terms of both hardware and software.

China is the one saving the PS5 in Japan. Most of the PS5 sales are coming here with weekly restocks. on 京东,淘宝,拼多多 specifically these three. The Japanese models are usually a little cheaper (¥500 about) depending on where you buy it so if you live here and want a PS5 it's cheaper to pick up a Japanese model vs a Chinese model.

That would be stable, but nothing impressive. It's the least it should reach, as less than 10M is rather low in Japan.

Also, even with digital, it doesn't look like we're getting anywhere close those software numbers anytime soon.

Sony will always be a secondary player in the JP market till they release another handheld. Its the reality of the country and every particpant knows that.

Still, its the 2nd largest market for them and they get the most software support out of any other platform from that region.

There's also VR, which is going to be big in the future, which I believe they are number 1 in Japan.
