For the first time this year I felt compelled to split the PS5 from the PS4, as we finally have two PS5 games in the Top 50, Tales of Arise managed to just make the Top 50. PS5 software in the Top 50 finally surpassed 100K and makes up 0.9% of Software Sales in the Ranking. The XBOX360 performed at a similar level in it's second calendar year - 2006 with 617K sales across the Top 500 games and 0.85% of Software Sales in the Ranking. Difference is that the XBOX360 sold only 290K hardware by the end of 2006 while the PS5 is likely going to be over 1.25M it's fairly clear that the actual Hardware Sales of the PS5 to Japanese consumers are actually closer to 300K than 1 million at the moment - the majority of units have been re-sold overseas for a profit and that would explain the abysmal performance of PS5 software relative to the hardware sales of the system.

Nintendo actually had some losses to it's market share this week as Tales of Arise knocked out Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training & Kirby Star Allies from the Top 50. WarioWare had a great debut for the franchise and long term is looking like another game that should have no trouble surpassing 500K in Japan.
In terms of Tales of Arise, the debut on the PS5 is the one that surprised me as I had expected it to debut below Village the PS4 debut however was exactly where I expected and continues the downward trend for the PS ecosystem this year. Bandai did move forward in the ranking and now are ahead of Square who are the other huge publisher having a terrible year, for the rest of the year neither publisher has any major titles launching with Bandai being in a slightly better position due to DBZ Kakarot & Super Robot Wars 30. But in both cases finishing outside of the Top 5 Publisher for the year will be disappointing for huge companies like this.
