I think you are mixing sales with playerbase on the MLB, but will check the link you posted.

Yeah, I actually misread that lol specifically the words were, "Of its 4 million players, MLB The Show 21 sold two million copies on PS5 and PS4, with the other half coming on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One" I missed the "4 million PLAYERS" part lol but the game on Xbox definitely did bring Sony more profit of the game.

Yes it is likely that Xbox brought profit, but we have no idea how much, much less as the article claimed that the Xbox version made huge profits for Sony.

the Xbox ecosystem userbase is much larger than you're giving it credit for, and is only going to keep growing.

I dunno, for me the Xbox userbase is pretty much around 50 million. But the PS userbase is twice as many. And didn't say otherwise.

Never said it didn't, since basically even 1 Xbox version of the game is profitable for Sony.

it's an interesting game, that I'll definitely take a look at once it comes to gamepass (hopefully it'll play well on Series S) - I'll likely pick up a PS5 before that happens, but I'm not intrigued enough to pay for a game I know I'll get access to within a reasonable timeframe

Great reviews but I'm leaning towards a sale despite not having a PS5 to play it lol.

Ill check it out once the price drops. Too expensive.

Looks like my kind of game, will buy when I can find a ps5. Same with Life is Strange: True colors and Ghost of Tushima. I already have Returnal, Ratchet&Clank and Miles Morales physical editions and a couple of ps+ games for ps5. My future backlog is growing rapidly. Hurry up and deliver some of those ps5s to Canada!

There are twice as many PS5 users than Xbox users so far, and Xbox game sales aren't known to be blockbuster anyway, so I don't think it will have an impact, since the game is a timed exclusive.

Unlike Outriders, where the developer kinda blamed the Game Pass deal for not breaking even (and not considering the game was buggy and bad in the first place)

LOL you obviously have no clue what you are talking about.  Xbox game sales have always been stellar the 360 still hold the record for highest attachment ratio with 11.75 physical games sold per console and the original X Box is number three on that list with 11.01 physical games sold per console.  Since most people buy their games digital now that ratio dropped to 5.34 on the X1 but that is still higher then the PS4 which is at 5.12.  X Box game sales have and will always be blockbuster and on average people that have X Box consoles buy more games then Sony and Nintendo console owners.

I'd like to add another concern that could have a negative impact on sales, Fanboy tribalism.
It's not enough to see people in the Xbox field saying to wait 1 year, there are people in the Playstation field saying they won't invest because the game was made by a "MS studio" and, therefore, the franchise has no future on Playstation.
It seems to me that there are some complicating factors around this game, much to the developer's misfortune.

I think you are being much too pessimistic here. PS5 gamers will buy it as it is one of the few PS5 exclusives releasing this year, not to mention a great game going by reviews.

And when it comes to Xbox, xbox gamers will buy it on gamepass as it is made by a MS owned studio. The year delay will reduce sales no doubt (plus any gamers really wanting the game will get it on PC) so sales will not be that great. But Bethesda would have expected that when Sony monehatted this so I am sure they will be fine.

You do know the attachment rate is higher when the sales of the console is lower, right ?

For eg: Wii's attachment rate is higher than the DS's attachment rate, despite having +900 million software sold for both consoles. Cause the Wii sold less than the DS.
