Also, Epic is not the only developer to not want to create games for the Wii for those reasons. That's why you don't see a Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise or Assassins Creed on the Wii.

True Bodhesatva, I guess it doesn't help that as a former big FPS fan, I feel the genre has become stagnant, and they aren't trying to do anything to improve it.
Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
Nothing worng with not wanting to delevop games on the Wii. It seems they are all about the latest and greatest hardware, so I'm sure the Wii is not there sort of console, but is it really necessary to call the Wii names. It just makes him look bad in my eyes.

If more and more sequels/same thing (series)/whatever are what you mean, then I guess that applies to most other companies' games. See: Madden, FF, MGS. etc. |
Exactly, it doesn't matter whether or not you make sequels, so Zucas's original statement was incredibly stupid.
They will make Wii games , afther GoW2 will bomb .... and we all know that wont happen . Also the UT3 engine sells like crazy to developers , so again , I actually understand why they wont develop Wii games ...
Vote the Mayor for Mayor!
These guys make money by selling middleware because it's too expensive for each company to make their own engine. That business model just doesn't exist on the Wii.
His opinion which is mostly right.. But that really shouldn't be said from a game developer, they should know better than being trolls.
I'm waiting for id Software to try out some thing on Wii. I'd be really interested, myself, in trying a Quake 3 type game on it! =D
On topic: It doesn't surprise me; Epic is an engine company first, game company second. They make the engines so that their games can show them off. They make the real money with the engine technology. id Software was the same way ten years ago.
EDIT:

I tried playing UT2k3 and UT2k4, and neither of them was as much fun as UT99... sure, they may have had prettier graphics, but some of the magic was lost. Although I will say there is a certain Valve game that may eventually replace UT99 as my multiplayer FPS of choice. |
Pfft, Quake 3 is better. Come to the disciples of Quake 3, you corrupt UT-loving dog!
The BuShA owns all!
This is another example of snobby developers thinking their games are art, and the Wii is only about "fun."
That's why he flames it.
Graphics don't matter to people like me. I will never understand why they matter so much to that niche audience who loves them.
Either way, I'll go ahead and say, I just got talked out of buying Epic's next game.
Go Go Epic PR!
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
