Forums - Sales Discussion - Resident Evil 8 launch performance- Ships + sells digitally over 3m copies first week

The more sales deets.

50% digital at launch which is actually surprisingly low and means very high console to PC ratio.

10% in Japan, so 300k shipments

That's actually quite a lot, will probably reach RE2-numbers.

So this finally puts to rest that xbox was just high on digital. Gamepass makes xbox gamers buy less games. can we now move on?

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

That 50% digital includes Steam, right?

I assume so which is why it seems extra low. Its been a while since a PS4/Xbox game has skewed heavily towards physical

The low digital percentage is odd for sure. The last few years, even on Xbox and PS4 40-50% of sales have been digital. I wonder why so many chose to buy Res 8 physical?

Even more since the pandemic we have seem like 80% skewed over digital.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Being one of the few new games on 9th gen should help boost sales, owners of PS5 and Xbox Series will surely want something to play on their shiny new box that's not from their last gen backlog, and it has little competition at present.
