Now that Rise is out on PS and Xbox (so much for not releasing on consoles because "it's designed for handhelds") we will never know the sales splits without a leak similar to World's.

PS and Xbox will add a few million (2-4) but I doubt that would be enough to come very close to World. Still, the game is a massive success provided there isn't too much overlap between its and World's development teams. Having two mostly seperate teams developing such big sellers is huge for Capcom and MH fans. I can see them announce their next MH later this year or early 2024, hopefully a true "next gen" experience.

The Steamdb and Switch Eshop demonstrate a steady pace of sales and better performance than the Sony/Microsoft after their launch. And the price dropped less than World. Rise may not surpass World phenomenon but Sunbreak was on par to reach Iceborn numbers.

Can't know its legs split on individual platforms especially on Playstation (which only shows the top 20 and has its sales spread out between two relevant consoles), and not releasing a physical version was a mistake. But it's safe to say its not passing 2-4 million copies across PS and Xbox combined, likely much closer to 2 million than 4 (80-90% of which on PS).

MHW (on 3 platforms and no Switch version) will end up outselling MHR (on 6 platforms and a bigger PC install base, since the minimum requirements are lower than World's) by 6-9 million. MHW was one of the biggest surprises in gaming history, catapulting the series from C to A-tier. Rise has no historic significance, and largely owes its success to World. Hopefully World wasn't a one-hit wonder and its true successor would achieve similar results.

Launch on Xbox and ps ( with Steam and switch promotion and selling well) 11,7 million. So only switch and pc was 11,7 million in December 2022.  Launching on the new platforms was in  January 20, 2023. So Switch and Steam have good promotions until the same day.

13.2 -11.7 =1.5 million with all the consoles.

2 million is a wrong overestimate. Only way was Nintendo/Steam had negative sales.

The best case scenario was o,5 million to Microsoft/Sony and then equal numbers until then.

1,0-1,2 to new consoles in best case scenario.

I'm giving PS and Xbox versions the benefit of the doubt and assumung long term legs will help it sell over 2 million which would in turn increase the total of Rise sales across all platforms. If they won't help much, then the gap in lifetime sales between World and Rise would be greater than I'm estimating/predicting.

As of the last update, World sold 22.5 million unit. It may exceed 24 million lifetime. If the Playstation version of Rise won't retain "okay" sales and aid Switch and PC versions, World might start outpacing Rise fairly soon when Master Edition is accounted for. Rise's legs are much weaker than World's.

One more sell from me for the PC's version.

As per Capcom's Q3 report, Monster Hunter Rise is now at 14.2 million and Sunbreak is at 7.1 million

So exactly half of Rise owners bought the expansion
