Is this an undercover Saturn thread?
What even counts as "Retro" these days? Are we at the point where Wii/PS3/360 qualify?

I'll let those , but Some places say they are not retro , I think their 15 years old consoles so i'll let them here ;) |
Alrighty, just checking.
If those qualify I'd recommend: (Besides the obvious well known stuff)
Wii: Fatal Frame 4, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Red Steel 2, de Blob 1 & 2, Medal of Honor Heroes 2.
PS3/360: Spec Ops: The Line, Singularity, Puppeteer.

Bulk Slash
Legend of Oasis
Powerslave
Assault Suit Leynos 2
Wolf Fang
Princess Crown
Groove on Fight
Terra Diver
Suiko Enbu
Nekketsu Oyako
Silhouette Mirage
Radiant Silvergun
Shining Force 3
Guardian Heroes
Astal
Astra Superstars
Fighters Megamix
What about Dragon Force and Panzer Dragoon Saga? Do I even have to ask?
Anybody play Lunacy for the Saturn? I heard it was... interesting.
Finally, isn't there Darkstalkers, and some other Capcom fighters on Saturn?

I forgot Alpha Centari existed. I'm a sucker for 4X games so I'll check it out.

These systems are 15 years old so definitely retro. Gameplay from that gen to the XB1/PS4 gen hasn't changed all that much, so those games don't feel quite as old as they are. 8 and 16 bit games definitely feel like they are from that era with their gameplay. PS1/Saturn/N64 all feel like games from the early Polygon era. Likewise with PS2, OG Xbox, and GC having their own gameplay feel for the era.

Yeah for me personally the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation feels like where "Retro" begins. They feel very much from a different era whereas gameplay hasn't really evolved much since around 2009.
I have not posted those as I like to post more obscure stuff first with GH being an exception. But yes Panzer Dragoon Saga/Azel is one of the best RPGs ever made. The only great RPG with Dragoon in the name I know of.

Yeah the XB1/PS4 generation was just version 2.0 of the 360/PS3 gen, but with prettier graphics. Kinda like how 8 bit and 16 bit gens mostly played the same. But then again 16 bit games built on what 8 bit games were doing. PS4/XB1 doesn't really build on what PS3/360 did before.

That, and about 10 other games are on my (reproduction) Sega CD wishlist.
