Vox Machina S4: Really amazing how they're keeping the quality so high. This season had some really great moments and character development and really keeps you on the hook for the final season. I wasn't as impressed with the first season of Mighty Nein but if it can hit its stride like Vox has I'll be very happy and I'm pretty confident they'll stick the landing with this one in any case. Love it.

For the last couple of years I dropped anime pretty hard, only watch maybe 1-3 shows a year, just 99% of yearly anime is unwatchable for me (not in a availability sense) but I was looking forward to the new Ghost in the Shell anime. I just finished episode 1 … it’s incredible and the dub is fantastic.

I like plenty of anime films, and still watch them, but I haven't been able to get into an anime TV show since my teen years. I think the last one was maybe Tenchi Muyo some 25+ years ago?

Some localizations that came around laterare ridiculous, but funny. (warning, some people might find this too offensive)

The thing is, in the 1990s it improved fairly drastically, it became much less censored or chopped up than it had been, with dubs no longer just vaguely resembling the existing show.

In the 1980s and 90s though, some of the English localization of Japanese media more or less chopped it all up and made a very different show. Happened to the 80s Astro Boy (which was actually quite a fantastic show) where they cut it up in such a way that the dramatic stuff was toned down substantially, and made into more of an episodic thing. Then there was Super Sentai, where they just made up their own script, and then pasted/spliced in an American high school drama, and called it Power Rangers.

On the other hand, I still find films like Satoshi Kon's four features, and a number of Ghibli films (including, but not limited to, films like Princess Mononoke, When Marnie was There, Kiki's Devilry Service, Porco Rosso, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind), and of course Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and others. And I'll watch them on occasion.

Actually, I just recalled a show I watched last year. I don't want to spoil it for what it is, because the actual realization of the universe of what I was actually watching was one of the biggest twists/most "holy shit" moments for me:

In a nutshell, Pluto follows a detective in an Asimov-style world (think the Robot trilogy) following a robot murderer.

I liked the show quite a lot.

Just saw Evil Dead Burn and I have to be honest, it was kinda underwhelming. Evil Dead is my favorite horror franchise along with A Nightmare On Elm Street, but this movie seems to kinda have fallen victim to the shock horror that can be a hit with younger audiences. There was just no story whatsoever. Something about "Family" I guess, but felt more like just gruesome scenes just for the sake of it. And they werent THAT bad like many have said either. I mean I watched Braindead/Dead Alive when I was young, so not much gets to me anymore. Love that movie. The characters were almost more likable as deadites than they were regular humans. I dont know. I wasnt bored by it, but I wasnt highly entertained either. I need to watch it again. Will get the 4K steelbook whenever it comes out, so maybe its better on a second watch. I was also alone in the movie theater, so than might had an effect on it...

I watched Spider-Noir, was pretty good. I went in expecting a classic detective, should have known by the title duh. (It just popped up and looked interesting, hadn't heard of it before) It was actually a well made take on Spiderman, great production as well.

And I watched Project Hail Mary. It was pretty disappointing tbh. I read the book first and the movie ditches most of the science and reasoning and turns Rocky into some love-able Pluto dog, while downplaying his role and contributions in the story. Add cringe humor, cut a ton of content and ugh. So now I wonder what "The Martian" is really like. (Also written by Andy Weir) But going to read Artemis first.

GiTS is my fave anime movie ever (1995) and I love the SaC series. Every show since then has been a let down for me. So the new one I was tempted to watch but decide to wait until all episode are out. So atm just watching random DC animated superhero films.

Christopher Nolan the auteur strikes again. I saw The Odyssey Thursday night in 4DX, movie was excellent, which is par for the course from this director (has he ever made a bad movie? I don’t know that he has or if it’s even in his DNA). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Odeseus’ journey, some real emotional scenes between he and his wife/comrades (if there’s one thing he knows, it’s how to write characters and dialog) and the boat and fight scenes (which were already great BTW) were amplified by my theater’s motion seats and environmental effects (more than a few splashes by my and nearby seats, lol).

Also the creature scenes were somewhat disturbing, I could almost feel their tension in trying to get around or away from them in one piece, lol.

Oh, and my theater was packed and IMAX screens were sold out on a Thursday and my theater was clapping at the end. This is gonna make mad bank (well-deserved mad bank).

Has anybody here seen the Vikings show on Prime? Would you reccomend it?

We liked Spider-Noir.  My girlfriend loves those old film noir movies with Bogart, and this was like sweet music to the ears.          

The one that started in 2013 or something else? I watched the first season of the former back in the day. It was reasonably entertaining but not a must watch for me.
