That's weird the graph has Switch at over 6m. I wonder where that number came from.

Nintendo is over 6m. Switch plus 3DS.

Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about the 3DS...

Now that the past 2 weeks are official, Switch has passed Super Famicom on the all time Japan sales list. SFC sold 17.17M units in Japan (according to VGC).

Next up is original Famicom with 19.35M sold.

XBox: Kenjabish

Is Switch standard selling 4 times more than Lite a sign that Sony gamers are buying Switch instead of PS5?

The next obvious first party title from Nintendo that the Japanese market is receptive to is a Tomodachi game, BOTW apparently uses an advance mii creator for its NPCs if they used that for the Mii creation in Tomodachi it could help boost the latter even further.

Well they should stop tracking Series sales as well then

There is a world of difference between the two. They also stopped tracking the New 3DS

We are talking about less than 50 units per week in a holiday season. Xbox Series is still way ahead of that and would sell much better if Microsoft bothered to ship some units.

I don't really see 134 being way ahead of 50

Massive sales and deserved! Step aside sony. The TRUE console king has returned.

70%-80% hybrid vs Lite has been the usual ratio for both models for most weeks since the Lite came out so I don't think it tells us much about Sony gamers' buying habits.

Switch is up YoY for the past two weeks. Very interesting. Now that we are past all of the shortages and comparisons against 2019 Pokemon, Switch is actually still on an upward trajectory. It will be interesting to see if it keeps this up until at least mid-March. We are 46 months into the Switch's life so far. Usually a system in Japan would have peaked by now.

Nes have this market share?

Probably, I was watching high score yesterday on Netflix and Tom Kalinske stated that Nintendo had a 93% market share when he was hired, now that could have just been North America, Japan I’m not sure on but one would assume it was similar there.

The Master System and the Atari 7800 barely had any presence in Japan, the only one that could have got in the way for this market share would be the Turbografx. I don't know exactly how much it sold there, but I've heard it did put up a decent fight for a while against Nintendo.

Momotaro outdid Pokemon these two weeks and just in the Top 10 we are seeing pretty major growth YoY. Despite the huge launch of Sword / Shield because software overall performed much stronger this Quarter will be up YoY, this is despite hardware being pretty much flat compared to last year.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 63% Increase YoY

Ring Fit Adventure - 55% Increase YoY

Smash Ultimate - 37% Increase

Super Mario Party - 19% Increase

Minecraft - 2% Decrease YoY

The main thing I'd like to say is that Ring Fit Adventure, Momotaro, New Horizon will lead to momentum and higher sales compared to 2020, up until the New Horizon launch, but that might be mitigated by the launch of Monster Hunter Rise. Overall there is reasons to expect that next week we'd have a progression of 150K -> 120K -> 90K in the coming weeks and a bigger shipment for Bowser's Fury, which will be followed by Olive Town & Bravely Default 2 making 2021 a stronger line-up than 2020 by a considerable margin, especially if Ring Fit maintains a high baseline into January.

Hardware 2020:

Week 2: 116.301

Week 3: 96.458

Week 4: 67.987

Week 5: 75.922
