What's awesome is that this isn't hard to imagine at all.

4 ≈ One

Japanese government would step in and prevent any takeover of their most prized company. Although this makes me wonder who has controlling shares of the company. I assume Yamauchi relatives do. Looks like I need to do research on Nintendo and Japanese laws protecting foreign companies taking over their companies.

Have a good look: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/stock/information/index.html

No really big shareholder, but about half belong to Japanese companies, mostly banks among them.

Over 50 percent foreign owned!   The looks of it no one really has controlling shares.

Yamauchi allegedly told the MS reps something along the lines of "You can blow my balls" although Nintendo denies this but given his reputation and other things he's said it's very likely something he'd say.

This story makes me laugh my ass off. It gets better when you read the details. "We (Microsoft) will handle the hardware and you (Nintendo) make the software." LOL, I would rather buy hardware from Nintendo every single time. RROD anyone?

Microsoft had nothing to offer Nintendo except an unrealistically inflated ego.

And now look at which company is porting their games to lol

Pocky Lover Boy!

I nearly spit out my tea imagining Yamauchi doing this, sounds exactly like him.

Man, the last 20 years of gaming would've been nowhere near as cool if Nintendo had just been a software maker for Microsoft. No Wii, no Switch, no thanks.
