Was this a problem before? Everyone knew what the issue with halo was. They accepted it needed more time. But Phil has to do his daily attention whoring and bring negative attention to an issue that was pretty much forgiven already. This guy really needs his spotlight time reduced. He is just hurting the brand more trying to spin when spin is not needed.

He's literally answering questions he's being asked. If you really think Phil is hurting the Xbox brand, then I just don't know what to say. Imagine if Don was still in charge, Xbox might not being be around anymore. At least the future looks bright for the Xbox brand, where at the beginning of last gen, there was no way anyone could say the same thing confidently.

Don might have been much worse, does not take away from phil being bad. And I dont mean the way he has handled xbox, cuz there has been some improvements even tho none of their acquisitions have bared any fruit and dont seem to untill at least 2022. But his constant PR spin is detrimental. Theres no need for interviews or 20 tweets a day. He is like the trump of gaming.

How has Phil been bad for Xbox? please, enlighten me. Don't tell me because he talks too much because that really doesn't effect sales in anyway. I want to know what actions he's taken to put Xbox in a bad spot.

This might be hard for you to accept, but the vast majority of the gaming community believes Phil has done wonders for the Xbox brand. I know a certain slice of the gaming community doesn't like hearing him because it's not about their preferred piece of plastic, but that's really not true for the majority.

Comparing Trump to Phil is actually a really bad take.

His not wrong, neither does Sony. Remember the masterpieces the PS4 launched with? exactly.

Resogun was and still is amazing.

Sorry for the DP mods.

So is Astro's playroom!
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-11-06-astros-playroom-review-a-uniquely-tactile-platformer-thats-the-beating-heart-of-ps5

I'm tempted to look for a ps5 just for that alone.

For the initial Holiday sales? Of course not. For long term sustainability? Absolutely. Phil is forgetting that come Holidays 2021 people are going to include Sony's stellar launch window exclusives into their console buying calculus. If Xbox just has Halo Infinite in 2021, and Sony has TLoU Multiplayer Edition, Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, Ragnarok, Ratchet, and Forbidden West, you can bet a lot of customers will be lost to Sony.

What are you talking about, I clearly said he has done good for the xbox and claim my critism solely on his constant pr tour.

Comparing trump to phil is actually perfect. Trump did a great job but he cant help but need attention and people find fault while otherwise they would just accept it. But trump did a much better job than phil since trump receive opposition all the way through while phil was given handouts and fans apologizing for him every minute.

Grounded even in early access has been played by 5 million people :). But I can see how it’s frustrating. When he talks people like us dissect it. Those who don’t want to hear him are suckered in to the conversation, just like now lol.

In the end his interviews get us gamers talking Xbox like it or not. While Sony stays largely quiet. In the end I think many are jelly only Xbox execs talking...because I’m 100% sure if Sony execs talked more you guys would eat it up.

Its mostly cuz most of the time he is on, something negative looms over the xbox brand. This time is the lack of games wich has plagued xbox for years. Even if he tried to talk about something possitive he would be draged down to talk about the negative cuz fans ask questions then eyes focus on that and all he will say sounds like spin. you even see this happen in holliwood when some bigshot makes a mistake, the worst thing to do is do a pr tour apologizing. Its best to wait untill it passes while working to fix it in the background and once you got it done then bragg from the rooftops. Because you cant tell me you are happy always being on the defensive for this guy.

And no, sony does not need to be live for us. They are doing great and the hype is through the roof and while the world was claiming week console and the like they said nothing, games came out and did the talking. This is what phil does not get.

I wouldn’t call it stellar. Its decent. It’s cross gen games and a PS3 remake, which as good as Demon Souls is, it has niche appeal due to its unforgiving difficulty.

I can easily argue the “buying calculus” includes Bethesda for anybody who is interested in Starfield or plays Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc etc, knowing if they want the sequels they need a Xbox over PS. All MS has to do is show any combination of these IPs via trailers if they won’t be ready for some time. Just saying there’s more then one way to secure a purchase.

Also got to factor in other things like unannounced games for the year, timed 3rd party games on both sides, possible delays (people seem skeptical GoW will make 2021). Contrary to popular belief, Halo isn’t the only Xbox IP launching next year.

Finally I don’t see it as a matter of losing customers to Sony. It’s merely the status quo at the moment  Given how this gen ended up Xbox has nowhere to go but up and vice versa for Sony.

The lack of games is quite literally the last narrative at the moment and a temporary one at that. 23 studios and all that. From 5 studios, which Phil played a integral role in increasing. So your response is cute in that it’s incredibly disconnected. Let him talk all he wants, he clearly earned the right to do so and makes things clear for fans at same time.

That said he talks it helps make the wait a little easier. And again if it gets fans like you talking about Xbox, even to complain about it, hey that’s still gamers online talking about Xbox. Also you can’t speak for your community. There’s people who make YT videos or Tweets every time Phil says something new. You bet your ass Sony fans somewhere would do the same if roles were reversed. But I must also add it wouldn’t have hurt for them to talk a bit more like say, to clarify cross gen for certain games the moment they were announced (Spiderman and Horizon).

Serves a triple function of clarifying for his community, stealing the gaming industry news spotlight, and frustrating PS fans. I say he should be talking more haha
