Good for Sony.

If Sony wasn't going to do it MS would've. What...you thought that MS was going to play fair? You're all in denial to think that this wasn't going to happen one way or another.

To my knowledge Microsoft hasn't paid for a deal like this since 2013 (when Don Mattrick signed a 3 year deal for FIFA Ultimate Team exclusive content), before Phil Spencer became head of Xbox. Phil has specifically spoken out against deals that lock DLC or game modes to a single platform.

It is difficult to know though what deals Microsoft would make if they were in Sony's position (being the market leader and being offered far cheaper deals). Besides, Microsoft did also buy timed exclusive DLC for e.g. Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014, Evolve in 2015 and The Division in 2016.

But again, these deals have to stop.

When I heard Phil spoke like that it was probably around the time Sony kept getting all these deals outing MS any maybe that's all he could've said to save face lol.  It's like how Phil says Sony isn't there competitor when the PS4 was already selling way more than the Xbox one lol.

I find it hard to believe that MS was planning to stop making deals for the Xbox One because those deals were very successful with Xbox360, Sony knew it too which is why Sony had to fight harder for them when it came time for the PS4, which is the result of it now.

I dont like these deals any more than the next gamer, but this is the business and it's going to happen regardless.

No different to what Microsoft did with getting Bethesda. Elder Scrolls was never a Microsoft exclusive and many PlayStation users loved playing Oblivion and Skyrim. Microsoft used below the belt techniques and now they get the same back. One more compared to all the PlayStation 4 and 5 users who will never get to play elder scrolls or fallout again because of Microsoft’s greed.

That is factually incorrect. Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind was a lifetime original Xbox console exclusive, and Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion was a 1 year timed Xbox 360 exclusive. 2 other Zenimax studios, id Software and Arkane, have previously released Xbox console exclusives as well, Doom 3 and Arx Fatalis respectively.

Besides, MS buying whole studios is simply not equivalent to Sony paying a publisher, Activision, to lock content off of PC and Xbox for 1 year, when those Xbox and PC gamers are paying the same $60-70 price tag for CoD as the Playstation owners are.

thank you to remimd us that ms done a lot of timed excusivity deals.

They do have Tetris Effect Connect, which comes to other platforms six months after launch, but it’s a free update for other platforms and a whole new game for Xbox users. IIRC Sony signed a console exclusive timed deal for Tetris Effect.

But you’re right, it’s been forever. The last one I remember is Division DLC being 30 day console exclusive. I think Sony clearly makes a bigger emphasis on third party deals considering the amount they do and mostly the length, everything is a year+ for console it seems.

It definitely isn't equivalent to a 1 year exclusivity deal. It's merely equivalent to all the developers Sony has bought to make games exclusive.

Just to clarify this is separate from the traditional Zombies mode. This seems to be an extra mode. The original Zombies experience will be available on all platforms.

The Thread Title is a tad misleading.

Yakuza like a dragon ps5 releases four months after releasing on all the other platforms. What is the reason for that?

BC on ps5 being shit

Yeah, I don't respect for sony for these deals that they've been doing with multiplatform games. I can't imagine news like this is exciting to anyone

MS has done plenty of this stuff too, dare I say they popularised it....so lets not turn it into a tit for tat. The most disgraceful was Tomb Raider... SE harmed the future of the franchise with that stupidity.

Elderscrolls exclusivity in the past has been different. Xbox was the only console of its gen that could run Morrowind decently and PS3 wasn't even out when Olivion released. Given how poor the PS3 version ran, it probably should have come out even later.

That makes sense considering that it's the BC PS4 version people will be able to play on PS5 at launch.
